Wer sowas braucht: guter Kauf. Warum ich nur 3 Sterne vergeben habe? Weil für mich der Teil "Mediaserver" nicht funktioniert hat.Mein Ziel mit dieser Maschine war folgendes: Ich habe alle meine Musik und Filme / Serien in meiner iTunes-Mediathek auf dem iMac. Wenn ich per AppleTV darauf zugreifen möchte, muß der Rechner leider laufen, außerdem wird mir die interne Platte (2 TB) langsam zu eng. Als ich also von dem Synology-System mit iTunes-Server las war ich begeistert. Ich stellte mir vor dort meine iTunes-Inhalte abzulegen und über diesen kleinen ständig laufenden Server über AppleTV auf meine Mediathek zugreifen zu können.Der iTunes-Server für die Synology-Systeme kann aber leider nicht viel:Im Prinzip kann man seine Musik auf dem NAS ablegen und bekommt auf anderen laufenden Rechnern innerhalb iTunes die Synology dann als freigegebene read-only Mediathek angezeigt. Ausschließlich Musik wird angezeigt, Serien oder Filme aus der iTunes-Mediathek sieht man nicht.Aber vor allem kann AppleTV den iTunes-Server von Synology nicht sehen, was ihn für meine Einsatzzwecke leider völlig unbrauchbar macht. Wenn ich nur meine Mediathek auf einen Speicher im Netzwerk legen will, kann ich auch einfach eine externe Festplatte an meinen Router hängen, dafür muß ich keine 400 Euro ausgeben.Deshalb habe ich das Gerät zurückgeschickt. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Zuverlässiges Datensicherungssystem *by P***D on Reviewed in Germany on February 28, 2013* Als reiner EDV Anwender kann ich die Praktikabilität des Synology DS712 NAS Servers (2 Platten a 2 TB) zur Datensicherung nur aus der Erfahrung und vom Gefühl her bewerten. Das Gerät ist zuverlässig, die Daten sind gespiegelt, der Zugriff ist gegenüber direkt über USB 2.0 angeschlossenen kleinen mobilen Festplatten erstaunlich langsamer. Woran das liegt, dass die teure Server Lösung deutlich langsamer die Daten abspeichert als auf eine MEDION Mobilplatte konnte mir verständlich bisher keiner erklären. Ein großer Vorteil natürlich ist die Einbindung des NAS Servers ins Netz und der externe Zugriff vom Laptop auch außerhalb des Büros. Ich habe die relativ hohe Geldausgabe zumindest nicht bereut, könnte mir aber ein schnelleres System vorstellen und wünschen. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Synology DTS 712+ *by R***R on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 24, 2012* I spent quite alot of time researching NAS drives and eventually settled on this one to back up our home iMac and its photo collection. I really pleased with the simplicity of set up and ease of operation. As a domestic back up device we are not stretching the capabilites of the device. The only comment I would make is that we installed a pair of 2TB Hitachi Deskstar drives and the box is quite noisy when the drives are being accessed. Compared to the Buffalo drive I use at work, which is completely silent, I am surprised at the level of noise.
