Very simple and to the point.
So I have a 4K tv and a PS4 pro with 4K capabilities but could not play 4K discs. I went ahead and bought this 4K Blu-ray player. What I love the most about this is that it does not try to be a "Smart" device, it does not have YouTube or Netflix or anything like that, what it does have is a good picture quality. The player does its job and does it well. The ease of use its very good, just put a disc in and hit play. Alternatively there are other items that the player can play, you can use a usb drive to playback music, view pictures or simply play a disc. This player does connect to the internet via ethernet, I believe this is mainly to update and use BD-live. Overall I am very impressed with this player and would recommend it only if you just need a 4K player, if you want a "Smart" device this item is not for you.

Not user friendly - inside or out.
Update March 23, 2018:Now add a new feature that developed this past week. Snowy picture on playback. I run everything through an Onkyo home theater system so I tried all the HDMI inputs. No change. No settings that I can find. Too late to return it so for now I'll go back to my PS3 DVD player.Original Posting:Front panel is impossible to use in low light. You cannot see the buttons to control it as it is all black. Definitely not user friendly at all.I thought the on screen user interface might have been updated. Same old, same old. It also takes over my home theater, changing the input from whatever I had it on.I generally like LG products and have never had any major problems. But these two points make me want to buy a different brand.

Great item - 4K clarity even with blurays
4K ROCKS! I really love the blu-rays that are upscaled to 4K. I thought Avatar was really good, now with this player - it is AMAZING! If you have a 4K tv, a 4K player is a must! This player is really nice and easy to use. This model was reasonably priced and I am more than happy with it! The 4K movies are almost to 3D quality clarity (not sure how else to describe it) with this player. I purchased a new high speed HDMI cable with it ($6), so not sure if regular HDMI cable matters or not.

Good basic DVD player with poor LG customer support and inadequate seller shipping protection
Overall, the unit plays regular DVDs well and smoothly for my 1080p LG flat panel. I have not tried 3D DVDs and do not have a 4k display, so can offer no review of those functions. I have routed audio via optical output to my receiver, and the sound is very good. I also appreciate the captioning button on the remote to help with dialog in loud scenes. Loading is fast as well. The main negative is lack of a printed user manual in the box. I called LG to request one. They promised to send one in 10 days about a month ago, so it is obvious the cost of a 50 page printed manual is beyond the capabilities of their customer service. It can be downloaded, but not everyone wants to print their own manual after spending $100 on a player. Since one really need the manual for set-up tweaks, their lack of customer service on this small issue inclines me to avoid their products in the future. I doubt they would be any more responsive on a bigger issue. The other 2 minor issues were: the very small remote is very hard to manipulate in a dark viewing room; and the unit shipped in the commercial box with no protective carton around it. Consequently, my unit had a small dent on the rear panel. It played fine, so I made no call to the seller. An outside carton would have provided the shipping protection I expect for a DVD player.

Great quality, no frills Blu-ray Player
This is a fantastic, no frills, Blu-ray player. I was very happy to find a "dumb" Blu-ray player since I already have a Smart TV and a Roku player. As has been mentioned, the menu screen looks like something out of the 90's, but that doesn't bother me one bit. Disc loading time is lighting fast. Picture and sound are much improved over my old Panasonic player. Overall, if you already have a Smart TV or other means to stream content (Fire Stick, Roku, Apple TV, etc.) then this is the player is hard to beat for the price.

It's okay
Worked fine (good image and sound) for over a year but recently developed a temperature problem where it would not read any disk. Unplugged it for a few minutes and it still failed to read. Left it unplugged for 24 hours and it worked.Other gripe: always very slow startup. Other brands start 3 times quicker.

Very nice, inexpensive player.
I hated the Blue Ray players I currently own - take FOREVER to load a disc and even to get one ejected... Not all my movies will even play on them. This new LG Blue Ray is simply perfect for my needs. Loads and ejects in about 1/4 of the time my older players need, and so far have played every single movie disc I have tried. There have been no issues with the player or the remote.I have not tried playing 3D in it as yet, but could really care less as 3D is not something I really enjoy except at a party with friends.
