Very informative. I read it and learned a lot about my little blue bundle of feathers. The author at times make it sound like quakers can be little terrors but mine is sweet through and through. She also makes a lot of good points though and gives some advice for training which is helpful. If anyone is considering getting a quaker you should go ahead and get one because they are delightfu, lovable little characters and you should definitely read this book first.

My quaker picked me about 7 months ago (when he was 5 months old) and I have been at a bit of a loss ever since. I own cockatiels which behave quite differently to parrots. I read every website I can about quakers and try my best to do the right thing by him. Then I got this book from Amazon and my life has completely changed. It is just fabulous - it has given me the knowledge to understand my darling boy and to also set rules so he doesn't get away with too much - all this is done with love. His quality of life has also improved dramatically and we now share a very close bond. I cannot sing the praises of this book enough.

This is a great book for the beginner or advanced quaker parent. It goes into detail about the care of the parrot, and what to expect of the quaker in particular. Even the pictures are instructional. Ms. Athan has been raising quakers and knows her business well. I've had birds all my life, but never owned a quaker, and I learned things that I never would have known, but needed to. I recommend this book to anyone with quakers form hatchlings to older birds. You can't go wrong with this book!

We purchased this book as we were told it was "THE" book by a true expert on the Quaker Parrot. We were about to get our first Quaker - although we are very "bird"-wise having enjoyed companion birds for over 40 years. The book itself does contain good information - however, the writing is very poor. The book is poorly laid out and finding information in it is difficult as the Chapter titles don't necessarily reflect the content. We found also, that the author "wanders" in her topics, making it quite convoluted and difficult to follow when reading through the entire book. I would not recommend spending what we spent on this book - you will find the Hagen Aviary site has a lot more info that makes a lot more sense on Quakers for free. We did enjoy the photographs which is why I gave the book 2 stars instead of 1
