Review: items that come as described and then some! - Fantastic egg candler. In terms of unboxing. Please make sure you don’t lose one of the two provided light screening and leakage protectors. You will get the bigger egg one either already installed but you also get a reducer, a black rubber ring for small eggs (quail and other exotics) which isn’t noted in the item description or on the box. I didn’t realise it came with one for small eggs until I found it on the floor. In terms of light penetration. It’s about as bright as my 350 lumin torch but I believe it’s closer to 400+. It’s exceptionally bright so will see through the most mottled of eggs and during late stage incubation periods where naturally it’ll get harder to see inside as the chick develops. Be sure to only use it for a while at a time. It can heat up the egg as the led is very bright. Much brighter than the Brinsea (extra bright edition) and less than half the price of that so great value for money. The size and shape makes it very stable in comparison too, just makes sense and is very secure. For the price you get a quality product and be ensure you don’t make a mistake like I did and misplace the smaller egg light screening rubber ring. Both are included so you can see pretty much see into all sizes of eggs including from large birds like ducks and geese. I love it and has replaced a much more expensive product. Great all rounder. Lives up to its name.

I had started out using a normal torch which was fiddly and not that effective. This egg candler made it a lot easier and gave me confidence in what I was seeing. It is very simple to use, has a nice sturdy base and the rubber attachments give a secure fit over the light so you get a really clear view inside the egg. I wish I'd bought it right at the start now, it would have saved some uncertainty.

This year I have hatched a few batches of guineafowl eggs. It was my first time incubating them and they have really thick shells so it can be tricky to candle them. I had started out using a normal torch which was fiddly and not that effective. This egg candler made it a lot easier and gave me confidence in what I was seeing. Product would have been fantastic, only it didn't give off enough light to enable a clear vision for quail eggs. The light needs to be brighter. Seller fantastic, gave refund and accepted return. Product probably good for eggs without bloom markings
