An international survey of graffiti and street art, and a unique typographical sourcebook as well. Classic graffiti lettering and experimental typographical forms lie at the heart of street culture and have long inspired designers in many different fields. But graffiti artists, who tend to paint the same letters of their tag again and again, rarely design complete alphabets. Claudia Walde spent over two years collecting alphabets by 154 artists from thirty countries to show the many different styles and approaches to lettering within the graffiti and street art cultures. All of the artists have roots in graffiti. Some are world renowned such as 123 Klan (Canada), Faith47 (South Africa), and Hera (Germany); others are lesser known or only now starting to emerge. Each artist received the same instructions: design all twenty-six letters of the Latin alphabet within the limits of a single page of the book. How they approached this task and selected the media with which to express their ideas was entirely up to them, and the results encompass not just street art but sketches, sculpture, digital art, and photography. 500 color illustrations Review: Great look at mays ways of Yraffiti and source for graffiti alphabet - This is an Excellent book for any any artist on any level looking for different font styles of graffiti for drawing/painting/spraying art. Beautiful book, great quality, great images, so colorful.
Really nice! I bought this for my 13 year old nephew who is into tagged style lettering. I thought this would be a great reference book to learn different style alphabets. The book is beautiful and full of MANY alphabets and has so much color and inspiration. My nephew loved it and has been practicing some of the styles he had been wanting to learn.

Diverse, inspiring collection!
As there were no "lock inside the books " previews available I felt a bit adventurous ordering it and I was not disappointed! I hardly ever write book reviews, but this book blew my mind away! It offers such a wide range of artists and styles that I never get tired of looking at it! The author - a graffity artist herself - asked 154 artists from around the world to contribute an alphabet for the book and it is quite fascinating to see how differently each one of them took on this task. Highly recommended!

This book covers style from A to Z.
This book is a great resource for anyone who has an interest in various graffiti styles/fonts. There are handwritten styles (tags), bubble letters (throw ups), simple letters, 3D letters, letters w/ characters, letters made with the human form, semi-wild style, and wild style pieces just to name a few. As mentioned in the product description, taking part in this project are some familiar faces to the graffiti scene: Askew, Persue, Wane, 123 Klan, Ces, and Rime. Regarding artists I was not familiar with, this book helped me realize what I've been missing, and with the help of web sites provided throughout the book, I was able to pull up more art from those artists that were new to me. Along with a web site listed for each artist, there is information about the crews they are a part of, mention of their favorite letter, and a paragraph of info. The paragraph might contain info about the artist, what graffiti means to them or what they love most about graffiti, and how they went about creating their alphabet. I loved how it mentioned that one writer woke up at 5 AM and went to painting his alphabet around the city before clocking in for work that day. My only dislikes were that a couple corners of my cover were a tad bent. Also, I felt that with what was shown in regards to some artists' work, a lot was left to be desired when it came to the execution of their alphabets (eg Akor, Beet, and Loomit to name a few). Then again, that could be a matter of taste. With 154 different executions, there is something for everybody! One reviewer mentioned their displeasure with the lack of colored executions. I went back and counted about 75 monotone letters. That didn't bother me so much, because it gave the letters a blackbook/sketch feel, and some letters are so nice that there's no need for the extra filler. This book is well worth the money. If you have been unsure or thinking about buying this book, my advice is to buy it before it goes off the shelves again.

Great book for street typography
My 12 year old son has recently become obsessed with street art. I got this book to help encourage his artistic exploration. He’s been practicing his own lettering since receiving this book. As a former designer myself, I really enjoyed it also. I’d definitely buy it again.

Great Way to Encourage Young Artists
I bought this book for my brother to encourage him to continue pursuing greatness in his graffiti hobby and to help him commit beautiful acts of "juvenile delinquency" or whatever. Seriously tho, book is shiny, great photos, hot inspiration for anyone into graffiti lettering. Makes a great coffee table book if you're less criminally minded. 10/10 would recommend.

Nombreux modèles d'alphabets; livre super pour une mamie qui veut apprendre l'art du tag non vandalisant à ses petits enfants.

Cover creased
The book itself is colourful and would be a lovely gift for beginner graffiti artists. It was well packed but upon opening the box, there's a significant crease that runs down the whole of the front cover. It's clearly been mishandled. I will purchase this again, but I will be in returning this item.
