A good solution for note taking and reading.
First of all, let me start by clarifying: This is NOT a typical tablet and should not be compared with one. This is a product that should be compared to reMarkable and Boox e-ink tablets. I have used reMarkable for many years (was part of the crowdfunding campaign) and I consider it an exceptional solution for note taking. At the same time, I travel a lot and the fact that it doesn't accommodate e-reading apps, made me look for an alternative.I was between the MatePad Paper and Boox Note Air 2 and opted for the Huawei. The e-ink display is top quality as is the overall hardware. The fact that both the pen and the case were part of the package was another reason for my choice. The tablet runs on HarmonyOS, which means no Google Play Store, but I was able to side load all the android apps I wanted, including kindle and Kobo from APKpure with no hussle. When it comes to Note taking, the interface is easy to use and rather intuitive and the overall experience is very similar to the reMarkable, even if writing doesn't feel as "paperlike". Erasing and copying-pasting is executed better though in the MatePad Paper and the same applies to conversion to text. There are two main drawbacks, which I understand are being addressed through software updates: 1) there is no folder nesting ability yet (i.e. being able to create folders and move notebooks and/or other folders in them) and 2) cloud syncing is problematic. Both of these have been solved in the Chinese version of the MatePad Paper, so I would expect it is a matter of time before the same happens for the Global version. Clud-syncing is getting trickier for reMarkable I understand, requiring a paid subscription for new owners to sync content across devices...In the MatePad Paper, one-way integration with OneDrive works well and I have access to my files there, making it easy to read my pdfs and word files. One of the things I particularly like, is the option to hold the table in landscape with screen split in two having a file, e.g. a pdf, on the left-hand side and a notebook on the right. When it comes to apps, reading on kindle, or Kobo, is a breeze. The screen is fantastic: large, clear, with no ghosting in books and uniform & easily adjusted backlighting (only cold though). The reMarkable has no backlight. When browsing, as expected scrolling is choppy (it's an inherent characteristic of the e-ink display) but the ghosting is next to zero which makes reading articles a much better experience than, for example, Boox Nova Air or Note Air.A last word on battery: it lasts less than the reMarkable, which makes sense since I use the MatePad Paper for more things and it has a backlight (which you can turn off). Working with the tablet for an average of 10 hours per day, including note taking, reading, web browsing and answering emails, one charge gets me through 4-5 days.In a nutshell, if you are looking for purely a note taking tablet, then the reMarkable provides a more refined and "natural" experience. The MatePad Paper though comes very close and if you want to also use it for reading, browsing articles on the web and quickly answer your emails, then you will not be disappointed. The hardware is top notch, and the software is being refined through updates. If note taking is not your primary use, then I think that a mainstream tablet would be a better solution. As far as I am concerned, the Huawei MatePad Paper caters to all my needs, with the only thing missing (but is on the way) is folder nesting.

Does not come with an m pencil 2 generation
The tablet itself seems fine, but one thing is for sure wrong, I bought an huawei matepad paper with a m pencil 2 generation, and what I got was the older version of the m pencil, which is not nearly as good. It affects a lot the writing quality.Very disappointed about this.
