Reliable, Old Friend
These boots retire a pair of Vasque Breeze (pre-series II) from 2009, with about 1000 miles of hiking, backpacking and yard work on them. The soles had separated from the shoe, from pounding on the 'step' of a shovel, while removing 50 yards of clay from my garden. It is amazing that after 22+ years of abuse, I can repair them, and they will be fantastic for yardwork! But I needed something more reliable for trekking. I tried many brands and found Keen's were great, but when I put on the Vasque Breeze III 9.5 Wide - I knew instantly they were the 'one.' Great fit for my wide flat feet and wool wicking socks. Nice foot posture, front-to-back step feel, strong sole support and ankle support (for backpacking). Good arch support, especially for flat feet.Normally a boot with those features will be heavy, but these are a light as the Keens. They breathe as well as my pre-series II Vasques, and I assume they are just as waterproof (took some constant swamping to get the old ones damp inside).Highly recommended!

Replacing an old pair of Vasque
Have been wearing this exact same model of Vasque boots for a few years now so decided to get a replacement because the old ones are pretty worn out already. So far have tried 3 different brands of hiking boots but this is the most comfortable. The boots fit as expected. The only mysterious thing is there is a sticker on the box the shoes come in thanking the buyer for giving these shoes a "second life". Not sure what that means - the shoes seem brand new and I wasn't aware of anything unusual on the product page when ordering.

A little narrow
I’ve worn Vasque hikers for over 20 years. They’re usually comfortable right out of the box and last an impressively long time. But this pair runs a little narrow despite being extra wide. It took some uncomfortable hikes to get them broken in to a point of being tolerable but caused me quite a bit of discomfort during the process. It’s the fist pair of Vasque that weren’t an exact fit right out of the box.

Did not need to break them in
The hiking shoes feel fantastic, better than sneakers. I can wear them all day and my feet feel great.

Not as robust as the Breeze III
I have owned a pair of Breeze III's for 5 years and loved them. The fit and function of the new Breeze V's are equivalent and I think they look even better. However, after 28 miles of hiking one of the lace hooks broke off. If you look at the attached photo you can see that the III's have two rivets on the bottom lace hook, where the V's have only one. This is a weak point that you need to be careful with. If you have high volume feet or use complex lacing techniques you might find the laces a little short. They work fine for me. Vasque customer support is great and are sending me a replacement pair.UPDATE: It's now a year later, I have around 120 miles on the new pair that Vasque sent me. I am careful with the lace hooks and have had no further problems with them. The boots are performing well and seem like they are going to last a long time!

Light Weight Hiking Boot with Excellent Support
This is my 2nd pair of Vasque hiking boots in 20 years. Yes, they last than long! Ordering a 1/2 size larger and getting a wide size gave me a great go to boot that I can wear daily. It gives me great confidence moving from flat concrete walking and on treks on trails in the woods.

For the money not worth it
The shoe is comfortable , the only reason for the 2 rating, the lacing hooks are very small, tongue is fat around the ankles so hard to cinch them tight and then the laces will loosen up, if the weather is wet and even slightly muddy the soles fill with mud become actually very slippery, so I would not buy them again, I had another pair of Vasque’s, I bought them many years ago, they were a 100% better boot, they lasted for years and at the time they were half the cost of these boots, like so many of these companies there pricing has gone way up and quality has gone way down it to bad to see this almost in everything these days it all about the bottom line not the customers
