Built more solidly than SodaStream and works with their old canisters and bottles
The SodaSpark feels more solid than my old SodaStream. I have limited wrist mobility so it's a little harder to screw the bottle in than the tilting SodaStream. I just have to raise the device up higher on the shelf. It autoreleases the pressure slowly instead of all at once when you tilt the bottle out. And it just stops releasing CO2 if the pressure gets too high because you are pressing it too fast. The SodaStream just dumps it to the air. To get the aggressive bubbles I like, I have to wait a little longer between presses of the button. So SodaSpark will probably be more efficient at CO2 use too.I do love that it uses SodaStream's old CO2 canisters and plastic bottles. It makes me mad that SodaStream did that to make more money, and make business more difficult for the competitor supply companies that have popped up.

Do it the right way.
Make sure you press the button all the way down till stop pressured and hold pressure for while. Do it at least 3 times. So far, this is the best soda maker I had.

Leaks and wastes CO2
This appeared at first to be perfect for my needs. I lost my last SodaStream in my recent move and in trying not to support &eno¢ide any more than my taxes already do, I was looking for an alternative. My old SS bottles were compatible, but the functioning of the valve is different on this device. When you hold the button down it injects the CO2 into the water, but unlike the SS, when you release the button it releases the pressure from the bottle, so each new "pump" starts from zero psi instead of the previously accumulated pressure level and then builds from there. I thought that design choice was pretty wasteful of the CO2, but I found that I could hold the button down for a bit to keep the gas from releasing and then start the next cycle with a quick release before all the pressure bled off. This worked for about a week or two, but now when I hold the button down after the pressure has equalized, the gas continues to leak out, so now there's no way to keep from wasting the CO2, which is the most expensive part of the system. I don't know if they will all do this eventually or whether mine was just a faulty unit, but the design is substandard, IMHO, and leaking/wasting CO2 appears to be a problem with this model/brand. I will be returning this unit and trying a different brand/model recommended here by another reviewer who also had a leaking issue. Really too bad, as the bottles were actually very nice and a better form factor, IMHO.

Received it as a Christmas gift
I love it! I love bubbly water. Easy to use and doesn't take up a lot of space on my kitchen counter.

Lasted 3 months
Worked reasonably well for three months until it started allowing the charge gas to escape during charging. The sound it made changed but I didn’t recognize what was happening until outside the return window. Perfectly planned obsolescence. Do not buy.

Worked great for 2 weeks. Now it leaks the CO2 like crazy
Product worked great for about two weeks. After that I noticed my co2 cartridges were emptying much quicker than they did in my SodaStream. Today while putting in a new canister you could just hear the Co2 seeping out as you were getting it set up. The leaking didn't stop. Save yourself the time and extra cash and just get the name brand soda stream. I had no issues with mine until it finally broke after YEARS of usage.... this thing lasted 2 weeks before it started dying....2 WEEKS. And of course i'm past my return window by 8 days. Go figure.
