Are these ok to use as a BBQ grill?

Good morning, We would not recommend this product for use on a BBQ. This is due to the galvanising, when heated to this degree the galvanising will burn and flake. We would always recommend using stainless still griddle only.

How heavy is it? I'm thinking about securing it at the back of a fence.

No the wire mesh is only 12 gauge 2.5mm thick wire it could not support someone falling into a pond.
