Review: Fan quiet just sometimes. - After some research on noise reviews, a few years ago I purchased a somewhat smaller Pelonis table fan, and it indeed has provided very quiet operation. This 16" fan, though, goes into a loud rough sound mode after just a few minutes. Then, it sounds something like a WWII propeller plane heard low over water. Twice I opened the outer cage and made sure the plastic parts were tightly threaded on. Did not cure. Fan sits atop a bookcase on a bed of towels. Moving it during operation has no effect. I suspect miss-designed fan blades, but have no way to confirm.
