I have never thought about something like this to make would-be thieves think that you are in when you are out!This light unit actually casts a similar light into the room from what a TV does. It flickers differing colours from white to red, blue to green, etc. So if you are looking for something for peace of mind when you are out late or are on holiday and you have not got an all singing all dancing alarm fitted to you house (and you don’t want to leave certain lights on in the house to make people think that someone is in) then this is a great gadget!They feel built to last and the construction is of pretty robust plastic.In the box you have the main unit, power lead (USB to jack), fixing adhesive plate and screws, and instruction manual.The main unit has a sensor on it so you can set it to detect when the lighting level drops and so it will switch on automatically.There are 4 settings to choose from:1. Permanent on2. Auto switch off after 2 hours3. Auto switch off after 4 hours4. Auto off after 6 hoursThere is also an off position too.I actually have mine fitted into a mechanical timer and I set it to certain times.This really does do a good job of illuminating a room with flickering light and it really does look like a TV is on when you look in through a window from outside when it is dark!I bought two of these and they are great value for money to do a simple job!Overall a neat little gadget that really does work!

Great deterrent for making the house look occupied while you're out. Our living room is at the back of the house, which often leaves the front of the house dark - so I even use it when I'm in sometimes just to make the house look more active.It's easy to use, just plug it into to USB power and position it towards a window or wall. I'll typically put it under the monitor of my home office. Since it has a decent length of wire, I'd say this is probably more versatile than the ones you plug straight into a socket. Brightness is good for making it look occupied from the outside.Overall a great value for money addition to your home security, and is complementary to other deterrents like smart indoor lighting and motion lighting.

Looks like the tv is on from outside, I angle mine towards the window so it’s easier to see it flashing, resembles real tv light. Just plug it in- usb. Small in size

Purchased this product 2 years ago and gave it a positive review. It is effective whilst it works having used it twice for 2 holidays. It does mention lasting about 5 years but not in my case. I phoned Customer Services three times but just an answering machine so emailed Company. Without going into too much detail the emails were polite but did not offer any solution other than wiping and trying another room which obviously I dad done anyway. but out of warrantee so that was that. It would have saved my time and theirs if just said out of warrantee end of even though it was only used twice for 2 holidays. Would I repurchase again probably not as the concept is good but longevity is not and not the first to mention this. The only good thing is that I can still use on a timer which seems to work but not if I use it as stated as just lights up even though supposed to come on at dusk? Will no doubt source a more reliable model.

Excellent, it really makes the room look like the TV is on,making it look like there's someone in the house.It turns on when it starts getting dark and it has a timer for 2, 4 or 6 hours.
