Cisco IOS in a Nutshell: A Desktop Quick Reference for IOS on IP Networks (In a Nutshell (O'Reilly))

Another product for your Cisco bookshelf
I wouldn't use this as your lone prep for your CCNA, although it certainly would help, and you'll find yourself using it once you're actually on the job. It does prodvide a good reference to all the commands you're going to use on a daily basis and then some. Also, another thing I like about it is, you'll know where to find the command. Unlike some other books I've bought regarding this, the commands, and subcommands, are well explained, with enough depth that you'll understand the command, and when you would use it.

Dated, but still useful
This book is very dated -- it doesn't even cover the zone-based firewall that my IOS 12.04 router has. However, there's not much else out there, so what are you going to do? A large part of the book is dedicated to a reference section, which seems a little redundant considering that any reasonable person is just going to google when they need to know command syntax. The value of this book is the how-to part, which will tell you how to configure a variety of services on your router. The biggest drawback is the lack of discussion of the newer firewall technologies.

Good Tool
I use this to administer OJT to the newbie and the intern where I work. It gives you enough to do it, without being excessively detailed. It does assume you have a certain level of understanding of the Cisco gear and OS, though. I love this thing. Put it on a tablet or laptop and keep it with you if you deal with Cisco on any sort of regular basis. It is that good.

Great for a refresher, or if your like me and just want to learn quickly
If you're like me, and can skim through a manual book and get the information into your head, then this is for you. It's a great refresher, also. I really enjoy this book since I don't have to read a paragraph to get the information I need on one thing.

Good reference
This is a good reference book, but don't count on it to teach you how to set up a Cisco device or any networking. Even though it is fairly current, I have found a few differences between it and IOS 12.4 T.
