Works great

A pretty basic timer but has all the features you need for a 4 zone system. Program days to water, run time for each zone, very easy to program and skip a day if rain is forecasted. Works great for my needs.

Hard to beat for the price. It’s super simple, older style nothing fancy. No wifi connections or crazy app to schedule stuff. You turn some dials, press some, buttons and you’re in business. Can’t be much easier than that. Just transfer wires over from old system. Hook up power and plug that bad boy in. Setup the days, time and hours for each station. Done. Installed this for my FIL in minutes. He’s a happy camper.

I bought an new-built home that came with an Orbit B-hyve Smart timer sprinkler controller. It worked great for about a year and then I had issues. Turns out it only worked with 2.4ghz wi-fi and I was recently upgraded to 5.0ghz. So I went and bought the Orbit B-hyve XR controller which works with both 2.4ghz and 5.0 ghz wi-fi. But I couldn't get the app to work. Turns out the app had recently been updated and the update wasn't working on my phone. I called Orbit and was told that it was unknown when another update would be done. Well I didn't want to buy a new phone so I ended up down grading to this Orbit manually set (not smart) timer sprinkler controller. Works great. Easy to install. Does what I need it to do.

I'm very happy with my new irrigation controller. It was very easy and intuitive to program and install. (It replaces one that was made in 1991, that still worked but the old buttons were starting to give out.) The simplicity is very nice. I like the "Budget" setting that acts as a multiplier from 10% to 200% for all the time settings, without having to reprogram them all. Following installation I ran a quick manual test of all zones; by using the budget setting temporarily at 10% it ran through 1.5 hours of watering in 9 minutes, confirming that it all works. Easy peasy.

This unit replaces a ~35 year old 4 station irrigation timer made by Hardie that I inherited 25 years ago, but it finally died at the end of last year's season. This new unit has many more useful features & is much easier to use. I discovered by accident that it actively monitors the power it is delivering to a valve, and will switch all stations off within a few tens of seconds if there is an overcurrent event, like two valves being connected in parallel by a wiring error. Recovery from this fault is by rotating the selector switch to "off" then back to "auto" AFTER the wiring error is fixed. Excellent feature! I own other Orbit brand products, and like them all.
