Good chance you can damage the lights just trying to get them unstrung. I did survive that tedious process with 5 sets - got them all mounted and they all did work at the beginning - now less than a year later all sets but one remains working - and I have used them inside without exposure to any vibration or them being touched. Some of the other brands, the colors were garish. These are delicate and pleasing. They have a nice little remote switch, which is great, so that you don't have to bend down to unplug them whenever you want to turn them off. The wire is very thin and a nice color, so that when the lights are on, you don't see it at all, and even when they are off, it looks like a little light sculpture. Very pleased with these.
