I sliced a boneless half ham from Walmart with this. It's good for sliceing meat for sandwiches and a meat, cheese and crackers tray. Pepperoni, etc. You can also slice veggies. Mushrooms and other items too. **Q: What blade and setting would you use to dice an onion? It seems everything I’ve tried just turns the onion to mush.** A: I have not been able to use any of the plastic knives. The closest thing to is to put the bottom blades up and use the regular straight knife it gets close to diced.
