What is new about this?** A: 1. Sound is directionsl not spread around, think megaphone. So best placed in a corner or directly facing your chair. 2. Two of them linked can be tied as stereo speaker setup for a TV or music. NOT meant to replace a speaker bar but bettef than cheap speakers inside a tv. 3. Bedside for mysic or listening to audiobooks from Audible. 4. Yes there is a rechargeable battery base this can sit in. About 6-8 hours of sound but this still needs connection to your wifi for internet function or your cellphone by Bluetooth for music. Far superior to old Dot hockey puck and equals round Dot for sound. **Q: Is this made in USA?** A: Are you being serious? Almost all manufacturing is done somewhere in Asia now. The outsourcing of labor from the US began in earnest in the late 1970s, over 40 years ago. **Q: Which echo is for outdoors?** A: The echo tap was discontinued due to customer disappointment. **Q: Can I hook up my Bose speaker to any echo ?** A: Do your Bose speakers have Bluetooth? If so, then YES as long as they don't require a pen code. Are your Bose speakers amplified and if they take a 3.5MM input; Then NO this Ecgho will not work. This Echo pop doesn't have a 3.5MM AUX jack on it. Other Echos do like the 3rd gen dot, 4th gen with premium sound and Zigbee hub. Any Echo that has a 3.5MM AUX output jack will not be able to power a set of speakers on their-own.
