The shorts loudly swish when you walk - definitely a different material than last years shorts. They also fit a bit smaller with a higher waist band if you like over-bellybutton high rise

5'0, 115 lbs, ordered smallThe shorts are very functional, and are comfortable around the waist. There's pretty good range of movement, and there are convenient pockets that can actually hold a phone. Other than that, the drawstring tucks inside neatly. This might be exclusive to the khaki/beige colored shorts, but the waist part is pretty different colored and it's not apparent from the ad how stark the difference is. You won't necessarily look the best on the hiking trail but at least you'll be well prepared.

Overall these are ok hiking shorts, they aren’t flattering by any means but most definitely are not lol. However the fit is a big odd in that it’s large on the waist with good stretch, and large around the thighs which is nice, but the part between right at the hip joints/hip creases is a tighter and makes for an odd fit. Overall not bad, and maybe it’s just me because I have wider hips, but interesting and something to consider when purchasing. Comfy overall though and definitely seem breathable.5’5 150lbs, between M and L and went with a large. 31 inch waist, 41 inch hips.

High thick waistband helps narrow my look and appears thinner! These have a loose fit in the legs but a fitted buttock and waistline;) Great for hiking! Love the pockets too
