It also provides guidance for making use of the built-in embroidery stitches that modern sewing machines offer, but which are mostly forgotten about and underused. The focus is non-brand specific, so you can follow along no matter what model you have. A comprehensive section covers the details of editing, organizing, and saving your designs to transferring designs between your computer and sewing machine, downloading from the internet, and much more. Also included are step-by-by step instructions showing how to create a wide variety of embroidery designs from heirloom, free standing, 3D, fancy lettering, trapunto, and everything in between, plus how to use and place your designs exactly where you want them on any project. With expert advice about what to look for when buying a new machine and a troubleshooting section for solving common mistakes and problems, this guide will help you get the most of out of your modern sewing machine. Review: Clear, concise & step-by-step instructions - Clear, concise & step-by-step instructions for introduction to the various types of machine embroidery. When I got the book, it was so well organized that I had no difficulty understanding each part, that pointed out in advance how to avoid common pitfalls; such as those that are prevalent among the reviews of the various types of machine embroidery products (machines, thread, stabilizer). Hopefully I won’t make any of those kinds of mistakes, but if I do, I’m sure to find the solution in the pages of instructions and the trouble-shooting guide.A section on regular sewing machine decorative stitching. This book was bought because I am planning to buy a sewing/embroidery machine, but didn’t know which one to buy. I was amazed that it was very, very easy to read, that I really didn’t want to put down. In a story book, you often hear that, but rarely in a DIY, instructional manual. I’m certain the actual machine manual won’t be such a page-turner...but I’ll read it none-the-less. Not reading the manual for your own machine is the first user error cautioned against in the book. Now I have a much better idea of what things cause success and failure, as well as why some features and machines seem much more or less expensive. What I discovered was possibly the most important lessons to success: the low end models all cost about the same, and you get what you pay for. Review: A must have for the beginner - I just purchased a Brother embroidery machine and got a quick lesson from the dealer. Once I set my machine up at home, I had so many questions and was unable to find the answers in the manual. This book answered them all and then some! So much information about stabilizers, needles, threads. Goes on about hooping and positioning embroidery designs, explains the many different designs and decorative stitches. Everything is explained clearly, with tips and beautiful color pictures. I know I will be referring to this book often.

Great Beginner Reference
Very good for a beginner embroiderer. I especially liked, and found helpful, the section on downloading designs from the web. The section on types of stabilizers is also great for a reference.

Really Helpful
I had received the Sewing Machine Accessory Bible for Christmas and then came across this one and knew it would be really helpful. I have sewn a little here and there over the years but never got any real experience. Once I got a sewing machine that was capable of embroidery I was a little out of my wheelhouse. This book has tons of information for the beginner. I am really glad I got this and recommend it to anyone interested in learning machine embroidery.

Answer to Prayers!
This truly addressed all my needs, questions, fear, & doubt regarding machine embroidery. I have attended classes & studied my users manual, still stumbling over technique, & a boatload of unanswered questions. This “bible” is a godsend to my frustration. Immense gratitude to Liz Keegan to authoring an organized & consicise quide to utilizing my expensive Pfaff Icon!

Check the publication date!
This book has a lot of good information - but I wish I ha checked the publication date. It is severely outdated technology, but I wanted a foundation book and this is really helpful with the concepts.

Excellent book
This book is very informative with great pictures. I is a must if you are new to this wonderful activity. I have 12 years experience and this book is a good reference book. I wish a bible like this would have been available when I started.
