I had a fireplace in my master bedroom in Las Vegas track home that I have abandoned and wanted to keep the wind noise from coming in and stop any bugs from entering. I stuffed a towel in the vent pipe then I pushed this end cap inside the tube, and it went in tight and firm. It is now completely sealed, and I can no longer hear any wind noise in my bedroom (See Pics) I have a track home, and the gas fireplaces have a tapered louver that goes into a 8” opening then the tapered louver narrows down to a 6” tube that goes up to the roof. I was so happy that this 8” end cap pushed inside my opening and the rubber seals made it tight and firm – would not have been any better = Perfect.

This is exactly what it says it is and it does its job exactly how it is supposed to.

Works perfectly. Key is order the correct size, which I did!

Unfortunately I had to return it and get a 5” one. The stovepipe was exactly 6”, so this would not fit inside it or outside of the pipe. The 5” is too small but I might make it work with duct tape. I actually need a 5 3/4, or slightly smaller than 6”, but it doesn’t exist.

Used to block water entering steel pipes used for reinforcing wall on driveway. Fit is perfect =for water resistant seal.

Girlfriend had a furnace replacement several years ago and I noticed that her old stack wasn't capped and was sucking conditioned air out the roof. This cap worked perfectly. Not a huge saving in heating/AC costs but every leak plugged helps.

I'm giving this a three star as I'm hoping to help others. The quality is fine. However, this is not a vent as indicated in the description, but it is an end cap as described. If you need a vent, look at others. I read reviews before purchasing and on some it said it had vent holes, but it does not. End cap only.

Had a chimney port hole form a wood stove that was removed from the basement. Originally the cap was this large top-hat metal cover. This cap went on tight and snug in its place. Happy it’s there to keep out any outside critters. Very happy

It was to block the wind coming in the house from a chimney event system. 8’’ working well with the joint.

Great to avoid noise! 100% no air movement!
