Not anywhere near as good as original series. The original "Last Exile" being a truly great anime.

Personaly, the story of the first season (Last Exile) was slightly better but nonetheless this anime is still a good story and I warmly recommend it. Its a good anime to add to any collection ^_^

Great fun whether you've season the first season or not
I'll be honest I've not seen the original Last Exile. Not for any particular reason just simply a case that I haven't seen it. So when my friend asked me to watch it with them I was a bit apprehensive in case I didn't understand what was going on. But my fears were quickly averted as it turns out this is its own standalone story within the Last Exile universe and it's great fun!With a Steam Punk feel to it, Fam: The Silver Wing features the young female protagonist, Fam, flying through the skies and engaging in piracy (because she is part of a fleet of sky pirates.) The viewer is quickly introduced to where the world stands, and yes I'll admit there were some references I didn't understand but it didn't matter as they weren't a detriment to my enjoyment of the programme. Very early on its established that war is about to break out and how imperative to the balance of the world this is. This plot point becomes a large catalyst for the direction of the story.The animation in this series is sublime, the soundtrack is wonderful and I honestly didn't think I'd enjoy this as much as I did without having seen the original series.
