I missed getting one of these when they were all the rage in the 70’s, always wanted one, and finally saw this and bought it ! Good quality, nicely designed and made (and just as I remember them from long ago!). Glad I finally found and got one. Very soothing and calming to watch the wax blobs rise and all. Got the pink/Orange one, going back for the blue.

A bunch of reviews say this lamp is cloudy. And sure, you think: “Okay, maybe people are impatient or don’t know how lava lamps work.” and it makes sense, right? We live in the age of instant gratification and all. Nope. It depends on whether you got a good lamp… or one of the MANY defective ones. Mine arrived cloudy/milky and I followed the instructions exactly. I ran it for hours. I did multiple cool-down cycles. I gave it DAYS. And yes, the liquid got a little clearer… just enough to reveal the real problem: The wax is FULL of bubbles. Not a couple. A RIDICULOUS amount. The blobs literally look aerated, like someone whipped the wax like they were trying to make whipped cream in there. That’s not “shipping particles.” That’s a manufacturing defect and it's not hard to figure that out. I even emailed the company directly asking for a replacement globe, because clearly this one is defective. Their response was basically: “Cloudiness is normal, keep cycling it for 1–2 weeks… and if you're not happy return it to Amazon.” So just to be clear: the company does NOT help you. They're great if you want someone to repeat to what the box insert says. Reach out, they'll repeat it to you in a longer version. They just push you back to Amazon which is surprising Amazon allows it honestly. And here’s the part that matters: This company has been making lava lamps since 1965. That’s 61 years of producing the same basic product. If something stays relevant for 61 years, it’s because it’s basically a 5-star idea and people liked it a 5-star rate. So how does a product this simple and timeless end up sitting at 3.6 stars? Answer: quality control is non-existent and customer service doesn't exist. Some people get a good lamp (very few though it appears). Others get cloudy junk that they're little "helpful" booklet doesn't help. How cloudy? I can't see my fingers on the other side of the lamp through what? 3 inches of liquid? But don't worry, I'm sure it'll clear before the Universe itself ends, I'll be long gone but not the company's problem apparently. If you get a good one, great. But if you get a bad one like mine, don’t expect the company to make it right, they see it as Amazon's problem.

Waste of money. It just stopped working.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Arrived broken, but excellent customer service I ordered this lava lamp because I love the classic retro look and wanted something relaxing for my desk. Unfortunately, when the package arrived the glass globe was completely shattered inside the box. It appeared to have been damaged during shipping. I contacted customer service right away, and this is where the experience really improved. They responded quickly and handled the situation professionally. The process was easy, and they made sure the issue was taken care of without any hassle. From what I could see before unpacking the broken globe, the base felt sturdy and well-made, and the overall design looked exactly like the photos. The packaging itself looked decent, so the damage likely happened during transit rather than being a product defect. What I liked: • Classic lava lamp design • Solid-feeling base • Fast and helpful customer support What could be improved: • Packaging protection for the glass globe could be better to prevent shipping damage While it was disappointing to receive a broken item, the quick and helpful response from customer service made a big difference. Based on how they handled the situation, I would feel comfortable ordering from this seller again

This lava lamp hits the perfect sweet spot for ambient lighting. The colors are vibrant, and the light output is soft enough that it functions perfectly as a nightlight if you prefer not to sleep in pitch-black darkness. The biggest practical advantage is the surface temperature. Traditional lava lamps can get dangerously hot to the touch, but this model manages heat exceptionally well. It gets warm, but it will not burn you, making it a completely acceptable and safe option to leave running in a child's bedroom. However, the functional trade-off for that safer, lower operating temperature is a significantly delayed start. It takes a few solid hours of being turned on before the wax actually melts enough to start flowing correctly. Once it finally gets going, the visual effect is excellent, but you have to plan ahead and turn it on well before bedtime if you actually want to see it move. Overall, it is a solid, safe piece of ambient decor as long as you are patient with the startup time.

The purple liquid with the red wax makes for a really incredible visual. It does take a while to get warm enough to melt the wax and start the "lava" effect, but that's just the way lava lamps work. It's a nice solid piece and looks great.

It was very very cloudy, I gave it a chance, let it cycle a few times, there was a major problem, the wax wouldn’t move, it would just go up and stay up there. Very disappointed. Also I need to mention, this was a replacement from another very hazy one. I’m Adding a picture of both lamps, the one I originally returned and the one I got as a replacement.

I got this just over 2 weeks ago and I was prepared to receive a cloudy/odd lava lamp and had read the things needed to fix it. And yet, after 2 weeks of cycling it on and off using a planter setup that runs for 8+ hours on and 8+ hours off, its still incredibly cloudy, to the point I can't even see into the center, only around the edges. Strangely enough, it was less cloudy when I initially received it than it is now! Really bummed by this concerning quality and I'm preparing to return it, frankly. I'm going to try other methods online that don't involve opening the globe, but as of now it's pretty disappointing since I can't even visually see the main appeal of the lamp. (Pictures included are from the day received, 1 week into cycling, and 2 weeks into cycling.)

Great color. I bought one several years ago that wasn't as vibrant as this one. I am happy I took the chance. Wax doesn't stick to the inside of glass globe.

Given so many reviews mention they received what looked like previously returned products looking cloudy, I wanted to add my experience with getting a unit which I also believe was previously returned. It arrived with the spring askew near the bottom and all. I followed the manufacturer's instructions and let it settle for a couple of hours before turning it on. Then I put it on a timer outlet and let it cycle 2h on 2h off for about 8 hours. Then I let it settle while off for some 8h, and put it on a 6h on then 6h off for a few days. After that, I had a very dynamic and good looking lamp. It did look a slight bit cloudy, but now, after several months, it looks great! So while I am ready to accept I may be lucky and got a really good unit, the fact it looked returned (cable wrapped sloppily, etc), my lamp survived all this and operates like it should, as far as I can tell. Forum posts seem to indicate these lamps, although not the best they've ever been, are also a lot easier to make work despite motion during shipping, and that has been my experience.

Cloudy garbage. Had it for a year and still cloudy.. same as all the other reviews. Why is amazon even selling this junk??
