Form, Function and Value Satisfied
We've had this toaster a few weeks and like the performance and the looks. The sleek, dark gray (almost black) exterior fits right in with the granite counter and backsplash in our modern kitchen. Most alternatives have a stainless steel exterior but with our black counter, accents and appliances this was a better match. The rose gold trim picked up the color of our backsplash and with the lighted controls adds to the contemporary look. This was one of the few long slot toasters with the controls on the end, perfect for the way we wanted to place it on the counter. The long slots are great for baguettes, long bread slices or multiple smaller slices, rolls or bagels. The bagel setting does the inner sides only and I've used the 30 second reheat for some toast done early and in need of a quick warm up. Love the count down timer that starts out as the darkness setting indicator then switches to letting you know the time remaining. I've gotten my preferred medium well done toast using the 4 or 5 setting. Toasting results have been pretty even for me with the bread centered or placed at either end of the slot. I haven't had any bread or bagels taller than the toaster slots like some other reviews. A close look revels a mostly plastic exterior and I'm gentle with the lever after reading some users have had that come loose. For $45 this is a good value with a sharp look that's different from most other long slot toasters.

Loved it until it stopped working
I love the way this toaster looks. And for a whole year it worked great. And now the lever won't stay down so I have to physically stand there and hold it for it to work. So sad 😞 I understand things break but after a year and a few months., the toaster should still work...

Great for croissants
I like the look of this toaster, and the timer so you can see how long is left. My favorite feature is the fold up arms for toasting larger items. I love the costco croissants and the raised arms are perfect for toasting them so they become flaky.

Crumb Tray Problem
Thanks everyone for advice on tray. It absolutely did not open easily. 3 people tried for me. I finally had to pry it open and now it’s stuck again. Makes no sense. Also the handle on one side fell off. What garbage

It’s like toasters have a “stop working now” timer
If you want to replace your toaster after 18 months, this is your brand/model. Same frustration as any toaster. Not made to last long. Looks good on the outside. Poor quality inside. Used about every three days. Heating element kept clear of crumbs. Still simply quit working.

Thought I was burnt toast
my Mother and I have different toasted needs? Mom wanted to continue with a two-slice model, and me, a four slice pop-up was a no-win. upon opening AMAZON'S, wonderfully intuitive, app I was shown a toaster in the PRIME DAYS DEALS blue box. and so I tapped and began to scroll when this went buy in a flash. I hit the brakes and backed it up to this beautifully presented answer to both our needs. and the look fit perfact with the kitchen decor. the long slot toaster. why didn't I think of that❓the price was under budget, reviews were above board so I hit the buy now button and on my door step the fallowing morning (Mom's Birthday, BTW) there it was. I came in the door and there She was. with her news paper under one arm and the toaster under the other, I was so relieved with tears on my cheeks all I could say was,"sorry, I didn't have time to wrap it", like I got cought or something. I know, sapy story. well She loves it. we dialed it in and so far, so great. July 10th, 2025, thanks to AMAZON and this toaster, this day won't soon be forgotten😎 I completely spaced wishing Mom, HAPPY BIRTHDAY. I'm a dummy

A short demo of the toaster
Before I bought this toaster there were mixed reviews on the evenness of the toasting. I was initially hesitant but then I saw the manufacturer's instructions about how to position your bread if you are only toasting two slices - that you use both slots of the toaster but make sure to put your single slices in the center. (If you use only one side or the other your toasting quality may be affected), so i thought it was worth a try. They also stated you should make sure you run the toaster a couple of times before you use it for the first time to ensure that you've burnt off any residual chemicals. My first toasting session I set my brioche hamburger buns at a setting of two and it was too long for them and they came out a little darker than expected (picture attached). The benefit of this toaster is that you can amend your settings even between the numbers so it doesn't have to be exactly setting 1 2 3 Etc Additionally you can press cancel if you're near the toaster and you notice it getting darker than you want. For my second attempt I toasted a another set of buns on setting one and they were a little bit light so I think you may want to tweak yiur number depending on the kind of bread that you are using. The toaster slots are wide enough that I didn't need to squeeze the buns down to fit them in the toaster slot like my former toaster, win! I later toasted some English muffins and I found the perfect setting for them was number three so it really does vary. I like the narrow width of the toaster because I have a small counter and it affords me extra space, yet I can still toast up to four slices at a time. I love the addition of the toasting rack for bakery items like croissants and stroep waffles. What I really like is it's built into the machine and you don't have to attach an extra part that you then have to find a place for in your cupboard and will probably lose if you're me. It pops up and down very easily with the touch of the back lever. So far I'm very pleased with this toaster. If anything changes over the use, I will update my review.

Truly one in a kind!
Our 15+ years old Sunbeam toaster has given up the spirit recently as one of 'power' contacts that are required to bridge the lever when pushed down broke off.. behind repair and at this age, it had been serving us well over all those years. A few years ago we had already looked into replacing it, but couldn't find one that was safe to handle and not cost a leg. Most toasters nowadays are filled with too many features and screens like a NASA Shuttle to fly!. Previous model we had evaluated all returned to Amazon... none was safe to use as the external body walls would become so hot you could burn yourself, so speak of a kid that would touch it accidentally. This one remains cold outside (max 25-30°C) when getting over 400°C inside. Grills your bread very evenly and for the results, guess what, you have to make your own testing.. Every bread is different as are everyone's taste, but the knob to control the temp is really easy and the countdown timer is a real plus. We love our new toaster so far. Only time will tell us if it will last 15+ years like our old Sunbeam.

Stopped working after 4 months
Stopped working after 4 months. The toast won't stay down and then it shorts out. Pretty toaster but obviously not built to last!

Slim factor and fairly even toasting across the board
Apparently, toaster shopping is a very difficult task. We looked at multiple brands, both cheaper and more expensive. After trying another brand's toaster that was running way too hot on the outside, we took a chance on the Mecity 4 slice toaster, long slot. At first we were not convinced: we felt like the toaster was not toasting evenly, depending on where the bread slices were in the slots. But after two weeks of usage, we can say that the elements are settled and the quality is there, although not perfect. We had one issue where the "Cancel" button got stuck but once we pressed it, it reset to its original position and we have yet to run into that issue again. Pros: Reheat, defrost, and bagel functions are nice to have. The digital display with the time remaining before you get your toasts is an awesome enhancement to the toasting experience. The sides of the toaster stay cool. The slim factor is a plus. Cons: Buttons seem to be sticky, as mentioned before. Hopefully, this won't be a problem in the future. Once settled, the elements toast fairly evenly, but it could be better. All in all, we like the toaster, considering the price point, and we will keep it. We will update the review if we run into more issues with the buttons. Note: Make sure you follow the instructions and "toast" without bread slices a few times before using it, as there will be a strong chemical scent coming out. This is normal and expected with any new toasters.
