I was surprised at the difference (Nose and Mouth Mask user)
First, if you expect the travel CPAP units to be as quiet as your larger ones at home, give up now and haul your big unit around with you. I have had 3 different units over the years and returned two of them right away. They all are noisier than the larger home-based units.I finally got a MiniAir from Resmed, which has been the best. Unfortunately, to me, it still sounded like a jet plane taking off at night and often was a discouragement to use. I use my Mini when traveling for work, and often, since I am alone, didn't use it due to the noise and I do not sleep as well. With this last trip, I added the Muffler and a Humidity unit. I also got the adaptor for my normal hose and left the travel Resmed mask at home, and used the mask I have attached to my home unit (Perkel). Like magic the system was much more quiet and comfortable. Both the muffler and mask change helped. I highly recommend the muffler for those sensitive to the sound and who use a full mask and not nose pillows.

This thing actually works (to my surprise)
I bought a ResMed AirMini for travel and it was so loud as to be unusable. The motor sound seems to travel down the hose and is so loud as to affect my sleep. Before getting rid of the thing, I decided to try this sound dampener. I was skeptical, but other reviews suggested it works. And it does work. The sound is probably 80% less while using this muffler, such that I barely noticed it. I sleep with a fan for white noise, and the sound is barely louder than the fan. The ResMed is now usable, which is great given its size. Give this a shot before you toss your loud mini CPAP in the garbage. Note the product is for the standard hose size, not the smaller diameter hose you might use for your mini.

Reduces noise by about half
This adapter does help reduce the noise from my travel CPAP machine. I would say that before the muffler it was at a 10/10 volume. Now it is down to about a 5 or 6, while my regular CPAP is at a 1 or 2, meaning I barely hear it. So, this muffler helped me reduce the noise so I can eventually fall asleep, but it does not reduce it to the same level of my regular machine. I still think it is a worthy purchase and recommend it.To summarize, it works well, is easy to install between your hose and machine, fits well, and is a sturdy quality that will last a long time. Worth the investment and a decent value.

Works okay. Still need earplugs
This muffles the sound of my travel C pap machine. However it is still loud. Better use earplugs if you want to sleep.

Not effective for me
I am probably more noise sensitive than most people and was desperate for something to quiet my ResMed Airmini travel CPAP. My home AirSense11 seems to be completely silent to me, but the Airmini seems loud and shrill -- not soothing white noise. I read many conflicting reviews of this item but bought it anyway. I have to say it may be making a very minor difference, but not nearly enough to let me sleep. The Q-lite is merely a hollow hard plastic tube about 6" long, with just 3.25" of it lined with a very thin layer of foam. What keeps me awake is the fan/air noise coming up through the hose, and I can't see how this tiny bit of foam could be expected to help.

Life saver for my Airmini/F40 combo
Edit: After 10 days of use, continues to work as expected. However, I must caution: when removing the CPAP hose conector from the muffler, hold the muffler conector part tightly so that the removal force does not take it apart. It came out once and luckily, it did not break so I was able to reinsert it. They should definitively redesign this piece but I am not taking a star away just warning customers to be gentle when detaching their hoses.Original review:This little muffler is a game-changer. I purchased an AirMini to pair it with my favorite Resmed F40 mask. The mask was comfortable to use with the Airsense 11 device but unbearable to use with the AirMini due to the turbine noise. After some google research the Q-lite muffler showed up so here we are after my first night of sleep with the winning equipment, I can say its almost as silent as when using the Airsense 11. I want to share that I also used a universal HME filter for humidification. I am not sure if it also contributed to the noise reduction.
