After searching high and low for a NON-TOXIC, DURABLE and truly SAFE dog bone, I finally found the large, beef-flavored, HARD version of the BetterBone for my year-plus-old rescue (Carolina Dog).1 - it's made of all NATURAL food-grade materials (cellulose from plant cell walls) ... which means no nylon, no GMOs, and no other artificials materials so it doesn't event stain your flooring. My girl loves the tasty beef flavor.2 - the wishbone DESIGN is genius because it gives her 3 ends to choose from (nubs v raised edges v smooth) and ample ways to stabilize it on the floor with her paws.3 - it is uber DURABLE in standing up to the hardiest of chewers (my girl gnaws on hers daily and sometimes even multiple 10-minute sessions per day). It works great to clean and reduce tartar on her teeth. The biggest surprise was that it took 6 months for her to gnaw it down to a size that was no longer safe for her (i.e. a potential choking hazard), so I donated it to a lady with tiny dogs at the dog park. At $20 per large bone, it's a good value.4 - and most importantly, ... it is super SAFE. It degrades in tiny little pieces that could not possibly cause a choking hazard, and being all natural (i.e. no nylon - which most bones do have), there is no worry if she does ingest some of the particles. They vacuum up with ease.The large bone weighs in at just over 12 ounces so it's kinda' heavy (9.25" long x 5" wide x 2" thick), but my 56 lb girl has no problem picking it up in her mouth before she hops up on the couch with me or into her bed.Thank you BetterBone for making a superior product that is healthy, safe and fun for my pup!

My lil pup is an AGGRESSIVE chewer and this is the ONLY chew I've found that lasts! I don't have to worry about her swallowing the pieces since they come off in tiny pieces. It's also not so hard that it'd break her teeth. This is the second time I've bought it (after trying a different, slightly cheaper brand that REALLY didn't work out) and I will continue to buy them!Picture is of the brand-new bone next to the year old one (bought in Aug last year).(I don't know why AZ says it's frequently returned, it's a great chew toy and you should give it a shot!)

I have a pitbull mix and a chihuahua mix and they both love chomping on these! I used to get them benebone’s and nylabones etc but i hated accidentally stepping on the rough spiky part and they got all gross and dirt kept sticking to those. I also tried wood based chews but those broke down too easily and i was worried my dogs would swallow pieces and hurt their tummy’s.This one is actually perfect??? I love that it’s made from sugarcane etc which means not wood and not entirely plastic/nylon. It breaks off very very slowly/in small bits but it really takes them a lot longer to ground down the edges enough for me to throw it out. No spiky or sticky wet areas on there even as they are chewing. My dogs have these on subscribe and save lol and get a new one every month or so to keep it in rotation. They are big enough for a range of dog sizes, we have the smaller bone size and my 60+ lbs pit mix holds it perfectly fine without it being a size/choking hazard. They’re entertained for hours and sometimes fall asleep chewing these. As it gets ground down, it doesn’t get sharp at all!EDIT July 2024: Okay so they aren’t doing subscribe and save on these anymore for some reason (probably inventory) but I intend to add it again once available.I also wanted to add the noise complaints everyone has is valid. I’m not particularly fond of the hard crunching sound when we are trying to sleep, but otherwise it’s relatively loud but still bearable if you’re watching something and your dog is chewing this. Trying to train my dogs to chew it in the living room instead of the bedroom but they keep bringing it in with them cause they love it so much lol

Although the toy was delivered into the closed yard (my large dog discovered it long before I did); the toy itself was not damaged. Then the toy was given to another dog which I intended. The yard was a mess with the destroyed packaging etc. The toy which survived the assault from my larger pup (though he weighs 90 pounds) was remarkable. I was able to give it to the intended pup and he's gnawing on it as I write. This order was for a medium for the younger/smaller pup, while I have had a large "bone" for the 90 pounder.....it's still intact and both dogs love their bone. I only deducted one star since delivery persons typically set any package, big or small, in a cubby next to the outside of the gate, which is concealed from the street. There is no "option" to write when ordering, place in cubby next to gate. My gates are always locked for security but once in a while, a delivery guy throws a package over....and the voracious chewers WILL find it!

We have 2 Pitties and so far so good on this chew toy. No flakes or shards of plastic and this is not from lack of them trying. I highly recommend this toy if you have an agressive chewer in your home.

9 month old lab started on this 6 weeks ago and still going strong. She originally had a medium density but went through it a little too quick. She works on it some every day and it’s one of her favorites. I like that it’s all natural. With the hard density the high price is a little more tolerable since it lasts longer.

The only toy I've purchased for my goldador that stands up yo his relentless chewing. Very durable, my dog loves it and it's the only thing that has withstood his play...and we have tried just about everything including all the other products labeled for heavy chewers. I swear by these and always have several on hand for my baby boy.

My puppy loves this chew bone. But when she had one end in her mouth the other end rubbed the top of her nose and caused a small sore which bleed.

My dogs love these. I got one for each of them and its the very often the favoured item.Spaniel and a GSD and they're still going strong several months later.I like these as it's not harmful to swallow tiny bits they chew off.

THIS IS AN AMAZING, INCREDIBLE CHEW TOY.I have a potcake (terrier mix) from St. Lucia that's 33lbs. He gets bored easily as he's still a puppy (9 months), and no matter what I gave him, he would destroy it. I had to stop giving him stuffed animals and anything that wasn't made of REALLY durable rubber.I never believed in giving these kinds of bones to dogs because they break off shards of nylon, and it made absolutely no sense to me. How could you purposely give your dog something that they can break off during play and it can harm them when they swallow it? I still don't get it.THIS ONE. It's made of organic, natural materials, so I'm not worried at all about if my dog consumes it. That said, there aren't any pieces coming off it! He's making consistent gouges in it (see attachment), but he absolutely loves it. IT's gotten to the point where if I hear him chewing on this bone, I breathe a sigh of relief because I know he's playing with something safe. He has had no issues, and we've had this toy for months and it's still in GREAT condition!The price point is pretty high, but you're going to get SO much more toy for SO much more time, it's worth the investment. Thank you better bone!UPDATE:it’s July 2024 and my boy finally broke off a chunk from the long end. I’m thinking of just sanding down the sharp edges and giving it back to him! He still LOVES it!UPDATE 2:It's March 2025 and we are still getting him this bone! The only reason I end up getting a new one is because he eventually manages to crack off the top piece (not the bumpy parts), and I don't feel like sanding it down to give it back him. These things last months, sometimes close to a year! I just wish he would play with it on a nice soft surface, it gets noisy!

We had the smaller one of these when our pup was a few months old and it is a bit chewed up and battered but she still loves it so we got her this for Christmas and she loves it too. We have bought her indestructible toys and at best they have lasted her weeks. If it has a squeaker she will kill it eventually. This she just enjoys chewing on it. Sometimes for ages and ages. The weight isn’t to bad that if she throws it about it won’t do any real damsge. Good value and she loves playing with it.
