Good quality - Good fun
We gave this as a gift to a 6 year old. His dad had to help him assemble it (about 20 minutes) The instructions were easy to follow and he loved the action of the engine popping out when it ran into an object, he played with it for hours. The car itself held up extremely well as it was run into objects over and over again and never lost a piece off the car. Much better quality than expected for the price.

Good value, great gift for the creator in your life.
Bought this for Christmas for my nine-year-old grandson. You can't go wrong with Legos, right? Give the model extra tricks and features, and it's sure to be a hit. I especially liked that it was a kit of some substance for a reasonable price, and this one can bear out lots and lots of use and reuse. With a lot of sets, they're tiny one-hit wonders (put it together and forget it); not really worth the jacked-up price. This one doesn't fall into that category, and, man! Does it look cool!

This is such a robust and fun toy to build & play!
This is a really robust fun toy! I (as well as my 5 y.o. boy) really liked LEGO Technic Stunt Bike (42058) because that doesn't break when kids play tough unlike regular lego! So I bought both Whack (42072) & Bash (42073) for my son & his friend. It's a bit challenging to 5 Y.O., but not overwhelming. I think it's just right amount to stimulate & develop cognitive & fine motor skills for 5~8 y.o. kids. Compared to Technic Stunt Bike, this pair run farther (less resistance after the wind-up motor runs out of propulsion), although the initial acceleration is slower. Also boys love these bad-ass racers more because they have something that breaks (sort of) when crash. You know... boys smile when something runs fast but they cracks when something breaks ;) I think it's a clever idea to include a built-in controlled-breaking mechanism.

Great car for any LEGO lover
I got this for my 4 year old son so I put it together but he loved watching me go through the instructions and find the parts. Then he had an absolute blast winding the gears back and letting it go.

Fairly easy to build
My children enjoy these LEGO pull back cars. They work well. Children 8 and younger will need assistance to build. The directions are easy to understand, but if the little ones miss a step or aren’t good with visual directions, they may miss a block or use the wrong piece. Otherwise, it’s a pretty easy build. Definitely fun to play with. I enjoyed playing with the cars myself. I purchased 2 other styles of pull back cars. Great STEM project for primary grade kids.

Love the pull back feature!
My 8yo boy LOVES this set. He was able to assemble the whole thing on his own but it was a good challenge for him. He loves the fact that it pulls back and that the engine pops off when it’s crashes. It’s quite durable once built and has stayed together through a lot of play. Perfect for his age!

Great Lego car
I purchased two of these for my seven-year-old grandsons for Christmas. They were a big hit! Fun for them to assemble, with a little help from mom, and lots of fun to play with. I’m impressed with the sturdiness of these cars: they don’t fall apart, even when knocked onto the floor from a table. And the fun factor of the pop-out engine is clever. Great toy for a very reasonable price.

Technics Rule!!
There are no better LEGO sets than these Technics. They are a little harder to put together but totally worth it! My son is 7-1/2, so on the low end of the 7-14 age range but he still put it all together by himself. He loves the pull-back feature. These Technic LEGO sets are more durable than other sets which is a plus bc my son is really rough with them. He loves dropping them from counter height to show everyone how tough they are. When dropped on the wheels they don’t shatter and come apart. He has broken an axle once and we found you can buy those separately if needed. He has almost all the under $20 kits. Planning to buy them again to make the combination builds. Those are super cool looking!!
