Is this vented or does it seal air tight ?

Not air tight as no seal and I put mine about 1/2” above the top of the chimney pot, as for me it was more to stop the birds falling down which they once did, rain etc. as it was an unused chimney pot. You could put it closer but you would need to seal it with silicone or something to make it airtight.

Why is the terracotta coated cap still advertised, as this is not what Planet stoves actually send?

Many thanks for your comments and the cap provided (and you received) currently features an angled side with a flat top but as these are for disused chimneys only, the design does not impact on the performance of the item. Kind regards, Andrew

what size is this product

I think it's about 30cm wide and probably a bit taller say about 35cm. It fits the chimney on our bog standard 60's semi no problem and comes with an adjustable strap as well. It's been in place for over a year and has done the job perfectly so far.

Can someone tell me how the strap fitting works, please?  I’m a woman and it looks a mystery to me.  Please help!

Good afternoon, Thank you for your enquiry. The cap is fitted with three brackets that are malleable and will shape to your chimney pot and then you are supplied with a jubilee clip to secure to the pot.
