Priceless family time
I bought this for my three kids for Christmas (ages 5, 8, and 10) after reading the great reviews here. I brought these out for the first time last night... not really knowing what to expect. My kids, especially my oldest, aren't too enthusiastic about games. They LOVED this! The first card had them asking us questions like, "What's my favorite thing to play at recess?" and "Who are my best friends at school?" We got to impress them with knowing most of the right answers, but also got to learn some new things along the way. Then it was the adults turn to ask the kids questions. We asked, "Where was I born?" and "What elementary school did I attend?" The kids had so much fun guessing and it sparked GREAT conversation. I know it seems obvious to just sit and talk with your kids about these things, but in the hustle/bustle of everyday life it is great to have something like this to get started. The kids were eager for another card so we pulled the next one. It was a game. One person at the dinner table was to close their eyes while the other family members removed one item from the table and hid it underneath. Then the person opens their eyes and has to guess what was removed. Oh, did the kids LOVE this! We played over and over. It was definitely the longest we have spent at the dinner table together for awhile. My husband and I both commented on how much fun we had. Tonight when I asked my 8 year old daughter to set the table for dinner, I noticed that she pulled out "Dinner Games" and had them all ready to go on the table. They couldn't wait to play again. I think these will have a place at our dinner table for a long time. Great product.

Transformed our dinner time!
I feel blessed for the interaction this game has brought to our family. My 5 year old LOVES it!I let him watch his iPad with breakfast because it helps him eats fast & we both need to get out of the house each morning; but that crated a bad habit for dinner. It was a constant battle for screen-less "family time" dinners. This game changed that over night. Now, at the start of dinner my son runs to the counter for "Dinner Games!", (Which I happen to keep in the corner, right next to the iPad.). Thank you to the makers of this game; not only has it helped to create family bonding but it can facilitate learning as well. Game states it's for ages 6-12 yrs, but my kid is 5. We do have to skip a card here & there. Note: They do have a Beginner version for the younger kiddos.

Repeat of younger version
We purchased the toddler version of Dinner Games about 3 years ago, and the boys had outgrown lots of the cards, so I gave our version to a friend and purchased what I thought was the next level. When we received the new version we opened it and started to look through the cards. I was disappointed to find that they're essentially a repeat of the toddler version. So far (after about 3 weeks of playing) I we've only gotten a single unique card (that wasn't part of the other version). Without the other deck it's hard to say how many are repeats, but it seems like a lot to me. Disappointing to spend money on a product we already had - HOWEVER: The dinner games in general are a great way to interact as a family over dinner. Some require a small amount of preparation, but most are just a great way to start discussions and play games.

say one nice thing about your sibling/parent (other person at the table)
Family first purchased the beginner dinner games. Those are also a big hit, but after a year or two my kids grew older and the games became slightly repetitive, to the point they both had their favorites and we started going straight to those cards. While the beginner games are more activity based, these seem to be more discussion and learning based. For example, say one nice thing about your sibling/parent (other person at the table).Someone make a sound of a letter, everyone else has to name an animal/object that begins with that letter. So far we have not had to repeat a card yet, they are still eager to go through and see the new cards and activities.Definitely has sparked their interest and will be looking into more of these for the future.

Our kids love it!
We have a 10 y/o son and 6 y/o daughter and they grab the box to play every night at dinner. It's fun for adults as well as kids. Most games are set up so you can make it easier/more challenging based on age. I would say if your child doesn't know their letters and basic spelling, then hold off on getting this one. This game helps kids work on their alphabet, imagination, and sensory skills. As it's sometimes difficult to have conversations at dinner without it being the same thing over an over again (e.g., How was your day? What was good/bad about your day?), it's nice to have other things to talk about/do during meals. Overall, I'm VERY happy I bought this game and would recommend it to any family contemplating buying it.

Great Addition to Family Dinner
I was excited to get this item for my family. Dinnertime isn't always the happiest time as someone usually has issues with what we are eating or what someone else is doing. We have 4 children, 5,9,11, and 16. We found ourselves talking about the same things, how was your day, what did you do at school, etc. Not anymore! Dinner has become an enjoyable experience. The kids look forward to dinner and the cards have been quite fun. A couple require a little setup before dinner, but I just keep shuffling those in for now. This has been a pleassant distraction from the kids' food issues. We have one daughter who hates mushrooms, but because she was having so much fun with the game, she never realized she was eating it! I would highly reccommend this product for any family looking to change up the dinnertime experience!!

Good if you have trouble thinking up things to do at the table
My family always played "talking games" at the table growing up, though they came out of my mother's own head. We got the Beginner Dinner Games set for my nieces because their dad didn't do that with them, and we thought it would give him some ideas - and it did! The kids glommed onto it like nobody's business and really loved it.So we had to get the original version, right? The kids are just as enthusiastic about it.One thing I don't like, though, in both sets is that not all the cards are games. Some are little puzzles that, really, can only be done once. Not so much fun there.
