I was surprised at the quality and construction of this device considering it’s not expensive that is easy to fit and does the job well

Brilliant but of kit, unlike some, very easy to fit.

Its a simple device, quite well constructed. Very simple to fit and release. I would advise coating it with a smear of petroleum jelly to protect it from the elements. Also a drop of 3in1 oil in the lock barrel keeps it smooth and free. The colour stands out a mild to hopefully deter the little darlings with naughty thoughts. For what it costs, good value.

The trailer I have used this lock to secure is a little awkward as the handle is directly over the hitch socket. I had to loop the U bolt through the handle, lift the handle install the lock base while lining up the U bolt with the baseplate holes while lowering the handle as the U bolt is a bit short until the handle is lowered.. The U bolt is only just long enough to engage on this type of hitch.

I would say these items are slightly out of spec. I have trailers made by different manufacturers and it's difficult to impossible to get them to lick in. They are obviously slightly too small. I'll take them in to work and get them 'buttered' up a bit with the welder. I have included 2 pictures. One of a real tow ball within spec and one of this item which is too small.
