This is a difficult product to review, as it is specialised.It's not a ready-made costume but accessories to help create a costume.So, I want to dress up as a medieval character, and I am halfway there, but I need some medieval-looking accessories - then this kit might just work for me.However, if you are serious about your cosplay, these items will not wow you; it is a fancy-dress accessory kit, and the materials are synthetic and relatively lightweight.While they look like medieval accoutrements (to a blind man on a fast horse), the "leather" shoulder "armour" and the grieves will not pass muster at a historical reenactment.You will want a friend to help you dress because it may be a struggle on your own, and you'll need a little time to lace the grieves to tie them to your forearms.Also in the kit is a good-sized black scarf for a hood of some kind, based on the product image, and it does. Although it is pretty thin, this won't protect you from the coming winter.There are even safety pins to help you corral items together, but all this needs a base.I can see why something as specialised as this might cost around forty pounds (actually £36.99 at the time of review); however, I am also thinking; I have to assemble a set of clothes that look medieval, to begin with; the tunic, pants, cloak, shoes, and source a "sword" etc. myself, first.Hence when I look at the headline price of this kit, I am torn.The items themselves, the grieves, shoulder "armour" and belts, then scabbard, are reasonably complex; they might not resist much more than the included safety pins in a real sword-fight, but that complexity does add visual flavour to my imagined half-assembled costume party outfit.These items could be used as part of a "steam-punk" or "dystopian future" or similar fictional costume where more modern things get mixed up with older, removing the hassle of finding a base costume that looks suitably medieval.In conclusion, this product doesn't work as a historically realistic set for me. Equally, if I want a costume that is ready to go without extra effort and creativity, then this kit isn't that either.However, as long as a buyer understands that this item is a specialised accessories kit and not a complete costume, then on that basis, the asking price, given the uniqueness and complexity of the parts included, is justifiable.

My son and indeed his friends all do LARP'ing. For those of you who don't know this is Live Action Role PlayHence costumes are strictly a must so this is great for him..granted it's not real lather but at a glance, you cannot tell the difference!He was very pleased with this as the bespoke costumes that they wear is very very expensive!
