I purchased this mat for my 10 yr old daughter to use with her new 3d pen for Christmas. We have never used a 3d pen before and we were a little skeptical about how difficult it would be to make anything with it. I was also looking for a protective surface to use the pen on so that we would not damage our tables. Well, this mat is the answer to all of our concerns. First of all, the mat appears to be made of a very durable material that does not melt or change color with direct contact with our 3d pen. Second, the mat is full of different types of lines and shapes to assist you with creating any type of formation you need to construct your masterpiece. We are so pleased we found this mat. Originally, we were searching for something that we could use to protect our furniture, but what we found was so much better. You simply use your pen to follow the grooves in the mat and then you can pull your newly formed shapes right out of the mat. It's that simple. My 10 yr old got the hang of it in about 10 minutes. I only supervise her so that she does not use the pen incorrectly, she does not need any help with creating cool objects due to the ease of use with the 3Dmate design mat. I highly recommend anyone who is looking for a tool to make 3d pen drawing simpler to use this awesome innovation.

I was hesitant to buy the 3Dmate Design Mat, because it cost the same as the mid price range 3d printing pen I bought for my ten year old daughter. However, I read several reviews that said the mat was really helpful for younger kids to get the hang of using a 3d pen, so I bought the mat. I am really pleased with the mat and completely recommend getting one. My daughter was trying to freehand draw with the pen, and was getting frustrated. I showed her how the grooves on the mat can be used to guide the pen tip, and soon she was excited about using the pen and getting good results. Its pricey, but worth it.

This mat is a great product. It helps me draw really neat lines, and dramatically reduces the frustration of using a 3D pen. The shape options provided are very useful. The flexible quality of the mat is also great: you can easily transport it anywhere, and the bendiness makes popping out the finished pieces very simple. It can be useful for a person of any age interested in 3D pens. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the hefty price. $30 or even $40 would be easier to swallow. Thankfully this is a very sturdy mat, and will likely last for many years of regular use.

This base is a must buy for those interested with 3d printing pens. This base helps you achieve the straightest possible lines or curves with Divots on one side but if you want a surface to free hand on, just flip it over for a completely smooth non stick surface. I’ve used both PLA and ABS filament on the base and both are stabilized on it but neither stick or get stuck to it, it is extremely easy to pop creations out of the trenches in which the filament flows. I would highly recommend it. The only CON I could find, (And mind you i had to work hard to think of one) was the silicon sticks to most tables or surfaces you rest it on, so if you want to move or rotate the base you will need to dust it in a little talcum powder to free the smooth back from a shinny glass or wood surface. Smooth back doesn’t stick to matte surfaces though.

Got this so my son would have a heat safe protective mat and it's a really good one plus you can use the designs and indentions to help with designs

The 3D Mate Design Mat is a fantastic accessory if you enjoy working with a 3D pen. The grooves in the mat allow you to make pieces with straight lines and curves, which are notoriously difficult if done freehand. Their customer service is top notch as well as they helped me troubleshoot a 3D pen they also sell (a version of this mat comes with a 3D pen and rolls of PLA plastic. The mat I'm reviewing here does not come with these extras). This mat solves a specific problem and does it extremely well. I'm completely satisfied with this purchase and highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys making things with 3D pens.

Nice size silicon mat, I like the way it’s laid out, give me plenty of ideas to create some useful stuff, and just playing with it will be fun, only thing I’d change about it would be make the grooves and lines twice as wide as they are, maybe twice as deep as well , I think the molten plastic would be a little easier to control if the mat was designed with deeper and wider grooves. Watching YouTube videos of people creating things with their 3D pens they make it look easy. I guess after working with a 3D pen a while it would be easier. I like the container it’s shipped in , will make a useful storage tube for the mat when it’s not being used. I found that the plastic flows pretty good on to the mat stays put and releases easily when making parts of projects. I’m still trying to master controlling the 3D pen I have it’s challenging,

Great product, although would be even better if the triangle template was for an Equilateral Triangle instead of an Isosceles Triangle, it was the main reason I bought it. You can still make equilaterals with a little improvising but it’d be much simpler if there was a template for them instead/as well. Equilaterals are more versatile for creating complex 3D shapes with consistent geometry, but with the angles in the Isosceles’ you are restricted and can’t do as much with them
