Valiant FIR421 Digital Moisture Meter for Firewood Timber and Brickwork, Black

I bought this for my wife to use when sourcing wood for her log burner. I read the reviews online before buying it and it seemed to get good reviews. It has a particular feature that the others lacked; the background colour on the screen changes from red to amber to green, according to whether the wood tested is too wet to burn, not very suitable as it's rather moist, or dry enough to be ideal for burning. This coloured background therefore makes it very easy to use, even in relative darkness, as there's no need to read the text shown on screen, you simply check the background colour! SO easy to use! Fool-proof! Additionally, it was a good price. So, highly recommended.

The media could not be loaded. This is a great moisture tester. The display is large, clear and quick to respond. The standout feature is the backlight changes colour depending on the moisture level. So in wood mode, if it glows red you should not use the wood in your stove; there’s too much moisture in it. Amber/orange is ok, you could burn the wood, and green is low/very good. Burning damp wood is hard work and also bad for the environment and I use this to check my suppliers would is up to scratch as well as my own is ready.I’ve tested it on known bits of wood and kiln dried logs straight from suppliers and it seems accurate. Recommended.

Works great

Been using constantly for 6 months. The metal prongs have been worked hard, pushed into many sources of woods and are still solid like new. The original Inexpensive AAA batteries are still fine. It's taught me the benefits of when to bring wood inside the house prior to burning. I've been given old fallen branches to use as free kindling. I always know when they are dried out enough to burn (<20%) and have saved loads not needing to expensive kindling from shops

Works very easily and is accurate for wood measurements.
