This is a decent blow torch head. It has a sturdy metal nozzle that resists heat deformation and while it has a plastic shell, it works well without heating up past the nozzle. The dial control is not in line with the nozzle, which is great as it's easier to control and less likely to break as fast. The in line types tend to use a screw that's somewhat tensioned to adjust the gas flow, and over time the plastic fractures plus it's a bit stiffer to turn. The clamp nozzle fits well on standard butane containers for camp stoves.It puts out a long trail of flame about 10" long, with a focused flame at the center of about 2" long. I can creme brulee by holding the torch about 8" above the sugar and that reduces burning. If I need something really hot, like heating up a piece of metal, I would hold it within 2 " of the nozzle tip.
