What is rubberwood? Is this real wood? Is it mdf?

It looks like REAL wood and appears very sturdy. The chairs look good and we are very pleased with them. One of the chairs arrived with a loose seat so my husband replaced the screws with longer ones and it solved the problem. All In all, the chairs appear to be well worth the cost.
