My 8 year old son is a pitcher and it provides the protection I was looking for. It’s thin enough to not show from underneath his jersey but padded enough to absorb the shock from a fast ball coming off the bat. The material is dri-fit so he stays cool. I would recommend this product

My son was hesitant about this when it arrived. However when he put it on he worked practice and said it was not as bad as he thought and then he has gotten used to it and says he doesn't even feel it anymore! Great product. It's a moldable chest piece which is way more comfortable than some of the plastic ones we've tried previously!

My daughter has played softball for several years and now that she's growing into the larger divisions, the girls are hitting harder and protection becomes a real concern. I actually bought this shirt while standing in my local Dick's sporting goods store looking at a shirt from another brand that looked EXACTLY like this one... same fabric seams, same collar design, same hex protection. The only difference was the logo, and the price (nearly double). Now that I've received the item, yes, it feels identical to the higher priced shirt. As for sizing, I ordered the L and it fits my 8 year old daughter perfectly. She's about average size for the girls on her 8u team, and maybe just a bit tall for her age. She says the shirt is very comfortable, and actually wore it around the house for most of the day we received it. Overall, this seems to be a very similar, if not exactly the same shirt being sold in retail stores for a much more expensive price. Since they're so much cheaper, I ended up buying two because of our hectic game schedule so we can make sure at least one is always clean and ready to go for practice and game days. Highly recommended!
