I have chosen to hand wash them only (my personal preference) and I can truly say that after months of daily use and wash the spoon and fork are still in excellent condition. The only reason I decided to remove a star, is because the design on the case has flaked off for the most part. Thankfully my 4 year old has not seemed to notice or is not too bothered by it. If you have a child who will mind I would just take that into consideration.
