Q: How many cups of food are in a 30-lb bag?

There are approximately 132 cups of food in the Nutro Large Breed Senior Dry Dog Food Chicken 30-lb bag. (We measured it recently to figure out how often we should set this for auto-delivery.)

Q: at 3 cups per day how long will a 30 lb. bag last?

We use a 40 pound bag and for two dogs, use 6 cups per day. A 40 pound bag for us lasts a month, give or take ½ day. I suggest to everyone getting the 40 pound bag because the cost per pound is LESS than the smaller bags. For calculating how long a bag will last, 1 cup of this Nutro weighs about 3.5-3.6 ounces. Just do the math on the bag size and daily feeding amounts and you'll have an accurate idea of how long a bag will last! In your case 3X3.6 ounces/day=10.8 ounces daily. A 30 pound bag of Nutro=480 ounces. 480/10.8=44+ day supply! But, the 40 pound bag not only lasts longer, it's less $ per ounce as well!

Q: what is considered large breed? i have 2 boxers 55+ lbs

Large breed food is for dogs that grow quickly, causing them to need extra nourishment for their rapidly growing and changing bones and body. They need certain nourishment to support their larger size. Any breed that has a shorter lifespan and or is known to have hip and joint issues as they age should be on large breed food. Especially to include the Boxer breed.

Q: just got a dog from the shelter and he is skinny we are trying to put weight on him will this fatten him up ?

I don't think this food will fatten him up and from my personal experience, now that he has a forever home, he'll probably gain some weight because he's being taken care of and loved. Nutro is a quality food and good for him. Just watch the labels as the company was bought by Mars corp. and they might change the ingredients. Good luck with your new pup.
