Great

Great little board! I use it to run a couple monitoring programs and it works perfectly. I installed Diet Pi on it for something a little more reputable and setup was a breeze.Mine idles around 105°F so not issues with heat.I have it hardwired on my network so not sure how well wifi works but it's a great little board for the money, especially when compared to the more popular product out there that tends to me more expensive for less specs.

Works great with Ubuntu Jammy Server

This SBC is a great little board for Ubuntu server, which is all I wanted it for. It is currently installed behind a router with an external port forwarded to its SSH port. This allows safe access to my network using RSA encryption. There is excellent documentation on how to get started on the OrangePi website. I have Python and gcc installed. I have no complaints or criticisms of the board. I never expect to connect a keyboard, mouse, or display. My access will be SSH only. I have three more on the way even though I don't have a present use for them. Cheap for what you get! It took a bit of time to select the image I wanted to burn and get the microSD card burner installed. Their recommended procedure worked fine. I initially used a higher capacity SD card, but then ordered 16GB cards which are more than adequate for my purpose, and easier to backup. My installation is using less than 2.3 GB of the SD card, and around 192 MB of RAM.

Works fine for Pi-Hole

This was easy to set up as a Pi-Hole for ad blocking on our network. The support and on-line information seems a bit lacking, but otherwise this is a nice SBC. I put full Ubuntu on it from the OrangePi site, though I've only accessed it through ssh and the command line. I got the 4Gb version in case I wanted to use it for something else, but it is overkill for a Pi-Hole. I 3d printed a case for it and that also worked well.

Solid Raspberry Pi alternative on armbian

Runs armbian like a champ. Slower than a raspberry pi, but fast enough for most jobs.

Broken Support

So if you want to do ANY video, can't use linux. The support for hardware accel on video isn't there. Can't even do audio thru HDMI. So we move over to Android aka Orange pi Droid.Orange Pi Droid is SO flawed! First there is ZERO useful apps with the stock app. No store, or way to add more apps. After getting USB debugging turned on, then you can use ADB via wifi to get into the system console. HOWEVER no matter what memory card size you use, the window imager tool will only allow you 128mb for system storage in Android. That of which over 30 mb is used. So less than 90mb is available. I don't know where the rest of my 256gb went to, but whatever. The instructions tell you to run 2 commands, which I did via ADB but it didn't do anything to help. SO installing any apps is out the window because of the limited file space they've allowed on the partitions.Three days of pulling out my hair just to make this POS view a single web cam. I still haven't gotten it to do that. Total waste of time! I don't know that I'll buy anything ORANGE after this terrible experience. ZERO support it looks like to me.

Works great!

Downloaded raspberry pi imager, custom source the orange pi ubuntu image for this model from their downloads page, flashed it to an sd card and off I went.Works really good. It started ssh by default, default password is orangepi. It reboots so quickly...amazing.I've got docker (Plex), Apache, SQL..etc.. it's my first Pi so just seeing what all it can do. Even with all that going there's still a lot of resources available.Just wish sd cards were faster (as a whole - I bought an extreme pro but still...when you're used to ssd or nvme, microsd is slow.) But once things are running it's plenty snappy.Update: the SD slot is limited to ~23MB/s. Rough.I ended up not using Plex on it as well. I'm sure direct streaming probably works fine but I need to be able to transcode. And it can ALMOST do it...which is wild. I plan to use it as my dedicated http server I think. It will be nice to have some physical separation from services that way. Really if I had 2 or 3 of these I could basically just use a microPC for Plex and move all my other services to pi zeros.

Excellent Little Board

I needed a board for hosting services on my network since my main server is at capacity. This currently runs a repository for storing and viewing 3d models and it works perfect. I’ve also tested octoprint which worked as expected. There’s still some headroom to run a lot more on this thing since I chose the 4GB model. All things considered this is a great alternative to the raspberry pi zero 2 W and setup was as expected for an orange pi device.

TV in a box

For $25 it's a steal. It's my new media PC.The only downside is that the ISOs are hosted on Google drive and you have to use a vender flashing tool to get Android going.
