![England's Newest Hit Makers [180g Teal LP]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61VfbZxs+GL.jpg)

With Beatlemania and the British Invasion in full swing, the Rolling Stones were announced as "England's Newest Hit Makers." Released to coincide with their arrival in New York on June 1, 1964, where they began their first U.S. tour. Describing the album, Keith Richard said it "reflected what we used to play at the Crawdaddy - a regular diet of Jimmy Reed, Bo Diddley, Muddy Waters with some Slim Harpo. The album was the cream of the set." Available on 180g ice blue vinyl. Review: The Beginning Of The World's Greatest Rock And Roll Band! - Wow! I am happy to get this copy of the Rolling Stones' first album and on ice blue 180 gram vinyl at a reasonable price! I once had a copy of this first album back in the late 70's prior to entering middle school and before I began taking up guitar myself[I owe it all to Keith Richards!]. But that copy was in regular black vinyl and it sounded like it was a fifth generation pressed copy with a bunch of hiss present at the conclusion of every track[!]. This was before remasters became fashionable. Not only is this new copy on colored vinyl remastered, it's also in glorious mono as well along with a reproduction of the free photo of the group included inside as indicated in its earliest pressings back in 1964[All it needs is a picture frame!]. Not only does it sound great, there's not a single skip on it! This classic Stones here with Mick, Keith, Brian, Bill and Charlie with the occasional help of longtime keyboardist[and original co-founder]Ian Stewart or "Stu" as he's known to us. There are also special guests from Phil Spector and Gene Pitney, who appear on "Little By Little" and are also subtitled on "Now I've Got A Witness{Like Uncle Phil And Uncle Gene]"-an instrumental nod to the Motown classic "Can I Get A Witness". The album kicks off with the Buddy Holly classic "Not Fade Away" all revved up and ready to go followed up by "Route 66" before speeding things up with "I Just Want To Make Love To You" originally made famous by their inspirational mentor Muddy Waters whose song inspired the group's name. Other covers include Jimmy Reed's "Honest I Do", Slim Harpo's "I'm A King Bee"[Love Mick's harmonica work on these two], Chuck Berry's "Carol", "You Can Make It If You Try"[with Stu's gospel-type organ playing] and Rufus Thomas' "Walking The Dog"[Love this version complete with dog whistles by Brian Jones]. The only true original on here is "Tell Me(You're Coming Back)" by the songwriting efforts of Mick Jagger & Keith Richards featuring background vocals by Bill Wyman & Brian Jones. The rhythm section of Bill Wyman & Charlie Watts never sounded tighter on the Stones' debut effort. As the US album title here dubs them "England's Newest Hit Makers" following behind "Meet The Beatles" by the Fab Four and both groups kicked off their first North American tours with press conferences at JFK Airport in New York. Personally I always thought the Stones did Chuck Berry better than the Beatles plus did more Stax material than the Fab Four. Each group equally covered Motown material as well. This LP is a great reward for me and for any other Stones fan as well. Get your copy today! Review: Great quality.
