Bought this originally for outside a back door until realising that they're no good if they get wet. So put it on the staircase and ad you come up the remote switches it on illuminating the staircase. Handy. Saves putting on the lights.4 ordinary batteries power it and they last a long time. Looks quite nice and it's unobtrusive.
