For some time I've looked at drones and thought about getting one. After looking at a number of reviews and youtube videos I decided upon a Holy Stone HS280 foldable drone - being new to the game. When received it was evident that it was well made and constructed of quality materials.The manual supplied with it covered all aspects of drone operation for the HS280 and removed any problems for a first-timer. The controller has a good solid feel to it, together with two fold-out handles for additional support.My first few flights (indoors) were just to get a feel for it, and showed how straightforward and responsive it was to control.The 1080p camera linked well to my android phone (Sony Xperia) giving a very good quality image. I have yet to find the nerve (or weather) to progress further afield with drone flying plus video.The excellent customer service from Holy Stone further supported my initial impression that this is a quality company, and one that I am very likely to buy from in the future once I get my wings.

Bought for my 12yr old son. So easy to get going, easy instruction, flying it is easy, managed to break the phone holder though, would like to know if replacements can be purchased, but unable to find anything

Fantastic drone - simple to use and quick to get flying! Got some great HD aerial photography straight out of the box. When the inevitable mishap occurred and I broke a rotor arm Holystone supplied a replacement straight away, free of charge and I was back up and running.

I bought this for my nephew for Christmas. He loves it, and the look on his face when he opened it made my Christmas 😊

I’ll start with saying I didn’t expect much from this, but I did expect it to work.It was a Christmas present for my son and for a first drone, this seemed a good choice.Son opened it up Christmas Day, we charged the batteries and took it to a nearby field. One of the propellors wouldn’t start. I probably should have just packed it away and sent it back, but it was Christmas Day and I didn’t want the disappointment.We realised that if we manually spin the propellor fast, it would start and work normally and so we managed to get a quick fly before the batteries died.When we got home I figured it must have a loose wire and I removed the screws out of the arm but everything looked fine. I tinkered about but nothing I did made any difference, the motor wouldn’t start unless I manually spun it first.The product is basically ready for the bin. I’m not an expert in drone repair and I cannot see a repair costing much less than the unit itself.Based on my experience I wouldn’t recommend this product, but if you’re lucky enough to get one that works as intended you may be happier.

First before starting drone follow the instructions in the book. Drone is easy to use if you're doing starting instructions. And seller is the best, will help you if you need something.

My first drone. Had trouble trimming to stabilize drone. Customer support was excellent and very quick. I lost control of the drone and lost it! Due to my travails I was speedily recompensed and a replacement is on its way.

The Holy Stone HS360S drone is hands down the best affordable starter drone and the customer service is excellent as well. It looks great, works great and provides great value.The HS360S is incredibly easy to fly, even for a first timer. In all honesty, once you calibrate the GPS you don't even need instructions to figure out how to do basic maneuvers. Using some of the more advanced functions is pretty easy as well you just need to give thee instruction manual and quick read. Also, it's super easy to carry this drone around as it comes with a carrying case so that you may use this on a hike , vacation etc.

Review for the Holy Stone HS-360"S" While this is my first drone. This is not my first digital camera. When making this purchase you have to consider a lot of things. The fact that you can get a battery-powered flying machine that can soar high in the air and travel a small distance away, while taking photos and videos and returning home with little skill or effort required from the user (all for $200) is pretty amazing ... Mind mind-blowing really. It served the purpose I had purchased it for, which was to have a way to photograph the new roof I put on my home. I did not expect however to enjoy using it as much as I have. It's a handy tool for anyone for this type of application.Now the real skinny...Ease of getting started.It took me about 30 minutes to get it up in the air the first time.It took me about 10 minutes the second timeIt takes me about 3 minutes now that I have the process memorized.It's low weight, so you will not have to register it or get an FAA license. plug and play!Ease of useThe controls on the remote are straightforward for the most part. However, some of the interaction between the remote and the app is confusing, because of some buttons have "double duties"The learning curve is further hindered by the short battery life, and long charging times. This gives you about 15 minutes per day max flying time. which makes it tough to get certain processes down to memory in a quick amount of time. Learn something new? Well, you'll have to wait 24 hours to use it again as the battery takes all day to charge back up.I also find its movements to be incredibly jerky and at times unreliable. it's hard to get this drone close to an object as it never really stays completely still. in fact its hover flight can vary as much as 5 feet in just a tiny spec of wind.PHOTO QUALITYThe photos and video are not that great. and I feel the reason for this is the lack of image stabilization. It makes it hard to get a really sharp image. but again... what $200 camera gives you a sharp image? DO not expect high res DSLR quality. Its never going to happen.. That being said the camera did much better when the drone was used (not flying) it produced photos about as good as a decent cellphone camera (which isn't great, but isn't bad either)DISTANCE TESTThe specs about the distance this thing will fly is GROSSLY overrated and honestly, its a flat-out lie.they claim it will fly "UP TO" 10,000 feet (which is 2 miles) I tested this for distance 2 times . The first time I was able to get 1200 feet 1/10 of what was advertised. the screen froze completely. the app was restarted, and the screen froze immediately. I hit the return home button and it promptly did return home. And while you could not see the return trip on your phone's display screen, the micro sd card never stopped recording and you were able to watch the footage without freezing later in post production phase.For the second distance test I only was able to get about 900 feet away before it announced it lost connection and would automatically return home. Both times that it failed to live up to the advertised distance and lost the image transmission, it never failed to return home. and as a result, I never lost the drone. If I had paid a lot of money for this, I would be pretty angry that it failed to go anywhere near the advertised distance. But again, what do you expect for $200Height test.Again another flat-out lie from the advertisement (note that they say "UP TO" 10,000 feet. meaning they are able to avoid false advertising lawsuits by not making guarantees of the distance. DO not believe these specs. It's a flat out lie. but again... you paid $200.... not $2k My height maxed out around 300 feet, despite my changing the settings to pro settings....Battery Life...Despite what the advertisement says, each battery lasts about 15 minutes. and they take all day to charge back up. I recommend getting a second battery. (or a third)Return HOMEOk so the return home feature has never failed me (yet) HOWEVER. It will never return to the exact location. its returns have been as close to 12 inches from where it started to as much as 10 feet.which honestly isn't bad in my opinion. and you are able to pilot its return once it gets closer to you.Final...Again. this is a $200 drone. Its amazing what it can do for such a small amount of money. I am very very very pleased with it. and it has spurred a new interest in me as I am already looking at getting a new drone with more rich features. I did not plan on loving the act of flying a drone and taking pictures with it. It gets me out of the house every day taking photos. You can't put a price on fun.

It’s really nice for beginners with the low mode. I’ve let a lot of my family fly this drone with no worry about it because of the low speed mode and how well it flys. I use the sport mode on the drone and it’s fast and very responsive. This drone is also good for spotting deer with its live feed function when I’m hunting. It also can really take a big hit as I hit quite a few trees in sport mode and all I had to do was dust the dirt off and it was ready to fly again.
