Stopped working within three weeks
The watch was delivered promptly, well presented in its case, and it's a great looking piece. However, after about 10 days it started running slow by 3-4 minutes, despite the fact that I was wearing it at least 14 hours a day. After two weeks the mechanism inside the watch (that you can feel winding it when you move) felt loose and much louder than it should, and the watch had to be reset every day as it was losing at least 15 minutes. After three weeks the watch would randomly stop, then start again, before finally completely stopping. When you move the watch back and forth it feels completely loose inside.I thought this was a half decent brand, and a good entry-level Automatic, but it is Orient's cheapest automatic movement and apparently just not that good. Will be requesting a refund, very disappointed.

Marca Legendaria

Amazing military style watch
I decided to purchase the Orient Defender watch because I had seen a couple of very positive reviews on the watch. Once I received the watch which arrived right on time, I was very pleased with the size and appearance of the watch. The dial is quite pleasant and the white and black numbers look really sharp. It is an automatic watch something that I totally like. The leather band is very nice (brown colour) and makes the watch look pretty clean; I wear it to work and it looks very dressy. Great purchase and value. This is my third Orient watch and I truly love the workmanship.

Beautiful, classy, perfect size
Beautiful, classy watch. Perfect size. Not too large on the wrist, not too small. The workmanship is amazing at this price range. The grey dial is very easy to read and looks very nice. The lume is decent. The strap is excellent, much better than typically supplied with other Orient watches (or Seiko's for that matter). The only thing I wish this watch had is hand winding and hacking, other than that it's a perfect watch for me.

Orient Defender
Very nice field/aviator style watch. I purchased this model because of the somewhat rare gray dial. I already have a few green, cream, and black dial military watches so this model had been on my wishlist for some time. This was my first Orient purchase and I must say that the build quality and attention to detail within the dial seems to be slightly better than similar Seiko 5 SNZG models. Granted, the Seiko SNZG models usually retail for a bit less ($100-$120 on Amazon). I purchased the Orient Defender when it was $150 on Amazon with an additional 20% off coupon code, so the final price was only $130. However, it looks like the price has jumped over $200 now so it might be unfair to compare it to a Seiko SNZG. I had been looking to purchase the Defender from Orient's retail website ($175 after 30% off code) or Long Island Watches ($129), but both retailers were out of stock for over a month. Hopefully they get more inventory soon and help keep the price of this excellent watch down.Back to the watch itself, the gray dial contrasts well with the white markers and minute/hour hands. It's very easy to see the time quickly. The day/date markers and 24-hour indicator are a bit smaller and harder to read from a distance, but anyone with near 20/20 vision shouldn't have a problem. There is also great depth within the dial. The curved outer ring of the dial is angled at roughly 45 degrees and along with the applied hour markers help to give the dial a bit of pop. The mineral glass also protrudes out of the bezel slightly with a similar 45 degree angle around the rim of the crystal. Very sharp looking IMO and just another example of great attention to detail and adding a bit extra to the design of the watch. The 42mm case size is perfect in my opinion and the brushed steel looks good and gives the watch a nice hefty feel. The steel adds enough weight to make the watch feel solid but not overly heavy. I'm currently wearing the watch with the included black strap, which is surprisingly flexible and comfortable right out of the box, but maybe a tad thin. I'm not sure if the strap will last more than 2-3 years of constant use but I give Orient credit for providing a comfortable leather strap overall. I ordered olive green and khaki NATO straps to use with this watch instead but they have not arrived yet.I've only had the watch for a few days but it is keeping excellent time. And I do mean excellent. It's off less than 10 seconds in those three days, so I have to be either very lucky to find a finely tuned watch or whichever way I've been setting it overnight (face up) is helping to make up for any loss during the day when I'm wearing it (edit: after more time with the watch, I've verified that it loses either 3 or 4 seconds most days). So far I'd rank the style, detail, and accuracy above my Seiko 5's which is to be expected given its price point. Had I known about this model earlier, I probably would not have purchased those military style Seiko's, which isn't a knock on the Seiko's themselves which are a great value. So far my only complaint with this watch is the weak lume. The applied hour markers are large and filled with sufficient lume, but the quality is lacking. It takes a bright light to charge the lume sufficiently and after the light goes out, the lume loses its glow fairly quickly. That's too bad because after charging the lume with a flashlight, the style and initial bright pop of the lume look excellent.
