Stick With it For Surprising Chicago Crime Fighters!
Well, We're up to Season 3, but boy I didn't think I'd finish Season 1 after the early chaos and boredom of the first couple episodes - I'd say skip 'em, but you need to watch them to understand the back stories - just belive this is not going to be a run of the mill Cop Show and that CHICAGO will have its day on screen - eventually... I mean, I lived there for 6-years so know it, I was there when you drove thru' Cabrini Green in body armour, yet used to cycle the northern lake shore to downtown on weekends and pray I wouldn't get mowed down by in-line skaters! It's a city full of amazing dichotomies which any film producer/maker should be using to the max - there's no need to film scenes out of town, (LA!) Chicago should be the STAR - Jason Beghe is mesmerising - it was disconcerting to watch him one night in NYPD Blue, '95 (One Big Happy Family)! - Elias Koteas and Chicago-actress Amy Morton add needed depth and be prepared for at least one Jump-out-of-your-Skin moment per show!

AWESOME POWER & PACE
"My unit, my rules," insists husky Sergeant Hank Voight. His past would seem dodgy, his methods unorthodox - he with a secret agenda determined by sinister forces on high. Cue for much crashing open of doors, gun battles, dramatic car chases, information secured by methods definitely not politically correct. No one can deny that he gets results, or that villains (those not dead) are thrust into cells bloodied and in evident pain.15 episodes of high speed action show the small crack intelligence team riding roughshod over obstacles - Voight loyal to them all, provided they obey, grief palpable when tragedy strikes."Chicago Fire" and "Chicago Med" have the humanity and humour. "Chicago PD" is the tough one, exhilarating for viewers who prefer action above all.Powerful scripts. Strong cast. Viewers will have their favourite characters. Mine may surprise: Trudy Platt, the downstairs Desk Sergeant. Outwardly she is a dragon but is often very funny indeed - laughter most rare in this series. (SMALL SPOILER COMING UP! Savour those photographing sequences - actress Amy Morton's timing perfect.)No bonuses, alas, but several more seasons to grip.

ONE OF THE GREAT U.S COP PROGRAMMES
I couldn't recall ever seeing this as free-view telly ( 5 USA ) seemed to have jumped in from what now appears to be season 2 as far as I can make out. That was great, as is season 3, but now I can correlate some of the character histories that I was presented with at the start of season 2 that were obviously covered in season 1. I only latched onto this missing link when realising that 'Chicago Fire' ( only recently introduced on 5 USA ) had already had DVD's of several previous seasons on release. I think that Chicago Fire is dull, uninspiring, nonsense with shallow, predictable, storylines like those of your average soap opera. Chicago PD, however, is really good and has that seriously tasty 'bite' where rules are bent to beat those that are, themselves, bent.Eamonn

Wonderful shows
I just recently started a binge of all of the Chicago shows (Fire & PD, waiting for Med) and they are FANTASTIC. Lots of shows try to do the crossover thing but when it only happens once a year it isn't very effective - with these shows they are always around in the background of each and every one and it is just wonderful. Chicago PD is fantastic, the plots are so interesting and the characters are wonderful and seriously developed, I cannot recommend this and Chicago Fire enough.

what a great cop show. best around. roll on series 2, and i hope more
it starts a bit slow. then it grabs you. what you would expect a police to be. not all this P/C. lefty mob. if anything happened to any of my family. I would hope that police like this would be around. but I would not hold my breath.roll on series 2 and more. has to be one of the best cop show around.

Not Very Good At All
A friend recommended this to me, so I decided to buy it, even though I had not heard of it before. I have to say, it didn't take too long before I realised my mistake and turned it off. I just couldn't get into it at all and the fact that I had never heard of any of the actors in the show didn't exactly help matters. It was too PC and looked as though it had been made on a very low budget, The acting was also atrocious, which put me off almost from the start. I just didn't like this series, sorry to say and I will be having some stern words with my friend when I see him again. I may try and palm this DVD off on him and see how much he likes it.
