The “I Really Don’t Want To Use This, But I’m Glad I Have It” Kit
The Byrna LE Kinetic Ultimate Bundle is the full-meal-deal for anyone who wants serious less-lethal capability without crossing into lethal territory. You get the upgraded LE launcher (higher velocity, better rails, flip-up sights), two magazines, a pile of kinetic projectiles (solid and eco-kinetic), plenty of CO2, a nice zippered case, and even a target. Everything shows up ready to go, and it feels like Byrna actually thought about what real users need. Pros: • LE model is noticeably more powerful than the SD – 325+ fps with kinetics means real stopping power at distance • Complete bundle – no immediate “now I need to buy mags/CO2/projectiles” regret; you’re fully loaded out of the box • Solid build quality – metal slide, good ergonomics, picatinny rails for lights/lasers if you want to go tactical • Kinetic rounds hit hard but stay less-lethal – great for home defense or property protection without the legal nightmare • Excellent customer support and training resources from Byrna – they actually want you to know how to use it right Cons: • It’s not cheap – you’re paying for the premium model and the full kit • Still requires practice – first few magazines you’ll remind yourself it’s not a real firearm (trigger feel, recoil, etc.) • CO2 performance drops in cold weather (like any CO2 launcher) • The case is nice but not hard-shell, so don’t treat it like checked luggage If you’ve decided you want the most capable Byrna platform and don’t want to piecemeal it together, the Kinetic Ultimate Bundle is the way to go. It’s expensive, but you get a complete, high-performance less-lethal system that’s ready when you need it. 5 stars – highly recommended for serious home defense prep.

Nice for home defense.
Might be less than lethal but this is not a Toy. Very well built for a self -defense item, lightweight, and easy to hold in either hand. Friend has the full target, and this was an easy-to-use item for multiple persons. I feel at ease with it in my home.

Great for self defense
This thing will definitely stop an intruder . I bought the byrna indoor target tent to check it out , and just the kinetic rounds pack a serious punch . I would not want to get hit with it , especially with the metal kinetic rounds . This was well worth the money !

well made - looks and feels legit
This is not a toy, when loaded with pepper balls or tear gas it will disable an attacker- I tried them against a tree at 30 feet and at about 5 feet from the tree my eyes were burning and my lungs hurt. That was with a slight breeze that helped dissipate the mist and after I walked the 25 feet toward the tree. I can only imagine that if it had been fired at me and the powder remained on my clothes that I would be completely disabled. I don't think much of using the grey kinetics to stop an attack as they may just get a drug addled threat even more upset but they are useful for practice of course. I looked at 5 other makes but the Byrna LE seemed the best from the Byrna line. I have since ordered 5 units for the family for their self defense some from Amazon, some from Byrna and one from Stunster. The ones from Amazon came with two 5 ball magazines but you can actually put 6 in the first time by loading one into the breech before inserting the magazine holding the 5. I have seen some sites selling Byrna that seem to offer 7 ball magazines and some pepperballs but the amazon ones come with only kinetic and eco balls and two 5 ball mags. The 12 gram cartridge will shoot both mags but that is about it, I have fired four magazines with one co2 cartridge but the last 10 balls were decidedly weaker. They claim one co2 cartridge will fire 30 balls but the last 10 seemed at too low power to be able to burst the pepper filled pellets. Having said that, I can't imagine a scenario where you need more than 10 pepperball shots. This is not a paint ball gun although it may take 68 caliber paint balls I have been told by my paintball friends. I am not a military professional and I have friends that scoff at using a air gun for defense but I think in some cases it may be better that a firearm for us novices who are reluctant or uncertain to address a threat with deadly force. I can imagine a situation where I am paralyzed between being attacked and pulling the trigger and ending some ones life so I get beaten with my own gun. The argument that a co2 powered weapon could not be trusted to have pressure when needed is largely answered with the pull-pierce trigger, it can sit in the drawer for years and still be expected to fire when needed just remember that the first ball shot is not at full power so I suggest putting a kinetic on top in the magazine. I have discovered that a pepperball doesn't always burst when it is shot with the first trigger pull. Mine is good for 40-50 feet with little drop and strong power but past that I am not confident the pepperballs would have enough velocity to burst. I highly recommend the crimson trace in green- fantastic! In a dark area, target acquisition would be difficult but the laser makes it a simple point and shoot from the hip if necessary. It is even visible in daylight. No need to hold the launcher up to your eyes to line up the attached iron sights, which by the way are a very nice improvement over the previous black sights. There is also a light available with a green dot from another vendor which bolts right on but is difficult to toggle on with small hands- the ct that Byrna sells works perfect although they ought to offer one that is specifically designed for the LE and not a universal one that has 5 different adapters included. Very pleased overall with Byrna but I only considered the LE not the sd, hd,or xl. those have significantly lower fps in my research, have 8 gram co2 cartridges, don't have safeties, and don't have the bright white sights. As to it looking too much like a real pistol I am not understanding the controversy on that matter. I did not buy these to be an offensive weapon, it is for self defense. If police are around I suggest you don't remove it from the holster - let them handle the matter. If you have subdued an attacker and police arrive, drop it on the ground or put it away- don't stand over the attacker with it in your hand like Rambo. Don't carry it conspicuously and if the attacker believes it is a real firearm so much the better- maybe you won't have to use it, especially if they have a laser dot on their chest. If you pull a launcher that looks like a toy, they may think it is one and force you to prove it isn't. Just my opinion. Here is an update to the above. I have now purchased 7 of these- no, not for myself. One of them was on Amazon sale day since it was 100 dollars cheaper. It was advertised as an LE but they sent an SD which is already 100 dollars cheaper when not on sale. As stated above, I only regard the LE highly, not the SD or HD or XL because of the power issue. I had no intention of overpaying for an item especially since I didn't want it in the first place. Well, come to find out you can't return Byrna items, so I had to contact Amazon and after considerable and multiple conversations I was able to convince Amazon to send out a return receipt. I took pictures and packaged it back up and about a week later I was informed by Amazon that they received my return but weren't going to issue a refund. Again, back on the phone and long conversations to customer service which seemed like it was overseas to a village with poor phone reception. At this moment I am not sure whether I am getting my money back ( I would have preferred a correct replacement) but Amazon has usually done right by me. So far. Not sure what the lesson there is but I doubt that the mix up is Amazons fault so perhaps not buying direct from Byrna might be a good idea, few companies have as good customer service as Amazon. Sorry to say.

Happy Customer
This kit arrived very quick with all advertised pieces. I originally bought the SD directly from Byrna but returned it in favor of buying the LE. I should have done better research before the SD purchase as this one is the most powerful and with a more standard 12 gram CO2 cartridge. I didn’t want to wait the 2 weeks it took the SD to get here so opted for this Amazon kit instead. Pricing was about the same when you factor in the extra bag of rounds and cartridges this one has. FYI you cannot return this if you buy from Amazon! I didn’t catch that in the product details until after placing the order but luckily I knew I’d be keeping it. I can’t own a gun until I get some legal issues cleared up but I wanted something to keep in our apartment for self defense. I live in a state with strict self defense laws so could only get the kinetic rounds, but will combine this and other self defense tools to round out my safety net. Of all the less-lethal pistols I looked at Byrna seemed like the best option, especially with the no pierce cartridge until first shot feature. I need something to sit ready for an emergency with as little in the moment preparation as a real gun would, and this fit the bill. The quality and feel of this is really top notch. They even had the foresight to cut out an area in the case should you add a sight in the future which is an attention to detail I appreciate.

Received defective LE
This was my email to Shawn Hannity and Glenn Beck Yall advertize Byrna products every day.... I decided to buy one. I ordered it from "The Byrna Store" on Amazon... First I looked at the Byrna.com web site for the Sean Hannity discount or other discounts. . That discount only applied for the less powerful model. If I am going to use something for self defense, it only makes sense to have the most powerful model. I ordered the better LE model at a cost of about $550 with tax... The next day I ordered more products from Byrna.Com. I ordered a holster, belt clips and Max projectised (pepper balls) for a cost of around $175. The following day, 2 days after receiving the Byrna LE I tried it out. What I received was a defective product... Apon shooting the first shot, all the CO leaks out in about 2 seconds. I tried 4 CO cartridges, with the same result. I decided that if Byrna sends out defective products, I don't feel very confident about the product possibly saving my life. Turns out, if you buy a product from Byrna, and it does not work, your only option is to send it back for inspection. I first contacted Amazon and they told me to contact the Byrna Store. The Byrna store, told me to contact Byran for warranty and they could not let me return it for a refund because Amazon took the payment. I would need to contact Amazon. So, I contracted Amazon again and they will not let me return it for a refund. So, then I contracted Byrna, and the runaround continues. Because I purchased it off Amazon, they can not do anything except let me send it in for inspection. I have expressed to Byrna that after receiving a defective product, I do not feel comfortable on relying on it during an emergency. At this point, my only option is to send it back to them to inspect it. And I find it concerning that they are not very concerned about their quality control and say "Well, we make 100s of these". There are other options on the market.

Full Review
I want to review this as a pro’s and con’s type review. This is based off of my experience with the item and my opinion. It may be different for you. PRO’s Lightweight. Pull to pierce technology does not waste CO2 and allows it to always be at the ready. Powerful, the plastic rounds from 40ft left deep dents in solid plywood. Comes with extras such as a bag of projectiles and extra CO2. Easy to use!! It cannot be any easier. You need NO weapons training to use this successfully. Smooth trigger pull. Distance!! Shoots every bit of 60ft on target!. Projectile options to include pepper balls, tear gas balls and plastic training/defense and eco friendly projectiles. CONs Sights are not accurate. Very very close but I needed to aim a bit higher than were I wanted the round to hit. I was shooting from 40 ft too. Training projectiles will ricochet unless using the eco rounds. The launcher is big. It may be too big for smaller hands. Cost. To get set up is not cheap. You’re looking at around $500+ for the launcher package and then if you decide that you want pepper or CS projectiles, those are $25 for five projectiles. If you want to add a holster or extra magazines, the price increases even more. You could be into this anywhere from $500 to $800 depending on how you want to set up your launcher. While the projectiles definitely hurt they do not have the stopping power of a firearm obviously. If you were to use this on someone who is truly committed on causing harm, I’m not sure it would stop them. It would most likely, depending on the type of round you are using, slow them enough for you to make a getaway. Overall, I am very pleased with this device. I think this is the best less lethal option. I have seen on the market in a very long time. This thing is definitely no joke and it is powerful.

Great for self defense.
Great self defense item. It's quite large so it would be hard to conceal but it feels weighty and has power. Definitely will scare an unprepared foe.
