Great mixer if you can't afford or don't want a bigger one.
I spent a very long time researching food mixers and in the end I decided to go for this one. For starters it's made by Bosch, so you know that this is going to be very well made. It has a slightly brushed stainless steel coating so it doesn't show the marks as much as a shiny steel one would. It's pretty compact compared to some of the other mixers I've seen and this means that it can stay out on my kitchen counter all the time and still be big enough to mix up all my cake mixtures. So far I have used it for - Mixing cakes - Using the beater attachment it mixes cakes beautifully. It is able to pick up all of the mixture from the sides and bottom without me needing to intervene. So far I have made 8oz cake mixes but I can tell that it would handle larger mixes easily. I made a coffee and walnut cake that I have made several times before and it definitely came out lighter than it would normally be. Butter icing - Again using the beater it is able to make a lovely batch of fluffy butter icing in no time. Using the plastic covering means that you don't get the icing sugar everywhere. Whipping cream - Using the whisk attachment I couldn't believe how quickly this whipped up a large tub of double cream. It was at least twice as fast if not 3 times as fast as my electric hand whisk. Also it really is great to be able to leave it whipping your cream whilst you go off and do other things. Slicer attachment - I had a very quick go with this and was able to mostly slice some carrots. I think more time is needed to get used to this as it seemed to chop my carrots in to lovely even rings and then about half way down the carrot would fall on it's side and then the rest would be sliced in long strips. I think it would work great with thicker carrots but struggle a little with thinner ones. This is fine as this isn't really why I bought the mixer. Grater - I haven't tried to grate anything but I did have great results with grinding pecan nuts. I thought I would give it a go as I didn't have anything else I could use as a grinder. I put the disc in on the fine setting and it ground the pecans beautifully. Juicer - I haven't tried this yet as it's a bit too much messing about just for one lemon or orange. I will definitely try it next time I make a lemon cheesecake and need several lemons. Overall I would definitely recommend this mixer if you are like me and want a good quality mixer that isn't too big or too pricey. It has so far performed every task with ease and I am looking forward to baking many more cakes with this. The only downside I can think of is that the electrical cord is only about a meter long so if you can't get it close to a socket then you will need to buy an extension lead.

Just perfect!
I was looking for a mixer and while I adore the fancy brands that start with the letter "K" I just couldn't bring myself to spend the very substantial sum needed to buy something that would not be used every day. I saw the Bosch and read the reviews here on Amazon and decided that at the price it was worth a try. I've had it about a month now and I am so impressed! So far I've made bread, pastry, hot cross buns, sponge cake, sugar cream and whipped cream. It's done everything easily and without fuss, and I have been really pleased with the results. The motor seems perfectly adequate for even a heavy bread dough, and it's quiet too - you can easily hold a normal conversation while it does its thing. I realised from the reviews that it moves a little in operation, and so wasn't surprised when this happened. The design is a bit clunky and quirky, which in my view gives it charm. It's not terribly big and so can be left on the relatively small worktop space I have without having to sacrifice too much space. I'm finding that I'm doing more cooking and more adventurous cooking than I would be doing without it, and using it actually makes me feel good. This product in no way feels like a budget option. It's easily suitable for regular use for a large size family. I can still hardly believe that such an amazing product was so affordable!

Bosch Mum
Since recently purchasing this I've made; pavlova, mince pies, cakes, chocolate yule logs, cookies, bread & smoothy; so time to give an opinion of pros & cons: Pros.. Does these with ease; -Whips egg whites fabulously. They came out perfect for the pavlova! & used attatchment to fold in whites for other recipes. -Mixes cookie dough easily -infact all the doughs I've done this lil 'mum' did it with no problems. -Thought bread may be a toughy but it was a breeze & every bit came off the sides when it was ready, just put it in tins after to let it rise -it was that simple!. -Cake mixes were so easy. -Did a fruit smoothy with frozen fruit & it was fine. -Doesn't 'bounce' around like some in the past when I've had it on full speed. -Gadgets neatly in the wall unit thing which makes them easy to get and use regularly..big bonus!! -Sits on kitchen countertop very nicely; Looks absolutely lovely, mod and doesnt take up loads of space. -Very quiet, which admittedly I was a little anxious about. I could make cookies etc at midnight and know it wouldn't bother or wake anyone!! -Nice solid, strong bowl and I know if I drop it it's not going to break. Cons.. Splatter guard tends to 'rattle' when using on higher speeds..& doesn't really click in sturdily enough....I used this to test it when doing the bread & ended up taking it off. I just put it on slow/medium until the flour was mixed..because I didnt use the guard some of the flour did flip over the side, but considering the mess when I did it by hand I've no quibs with it & no comparison in the difference in clean up after (i.e. by hand at least 5-10 mins cleaning flour from everywhere; w/mum 1 min!! OVERALL: Did quite abit of research for approx 6 months before finally purchasing and I gave this a 4/5 only 'cause of the splatter guard. I enjoy making/cooking things now cause I know I haven't got to do it by hand. BUT I am absolutely delighted with the 'mum'. I thought the price was enough, in fact more than enough for a food mixer, any more and it would then go over to 'Mr & Mrs Jones' ;) Amazon delivered really quickly and it was packaged extremely well in 2 boxes! Very impressed thankyou. Well, I hope this review helps and so far this 'MuM' has done everything she wanted it to do! :) NB: I haven't used the cutter discs, or the lemon/juicer thing yet, but when I do I may add to the review/do another or even do a video, there don't seem to be many actually using it to make something which I'd looked high and low for on the web (other than vids 'unpacking', using it with nothing in the bowl & Bosch's ad vid.

THE BEST KITCHEN FRIEND AFTER 40 YEARS OF COOKING
I have a large family (5 grown up children) and for 35 years I've been happy with my Kenwood Chef but the time came to change the mixer. I'm only cooking for me now and don't need such a large machine. It's very difficult to know which one to chose so I took my time. This one caught my eye mainly due to so many positive reviews but there are always exceptions to the rule which makes me wonder what people expect. Taking a realistic view I decided to go with this one and I am amazed at how quiet it is, even on the fastest speed, compared to the old Kenwood Chef. My little dog never got used to it and hid when I used it but she doesn't even flinch when this little baby is working! It's early days but these are my initial findings: It really does pay to read the booklet - don't be put off by the bulk of it. Each language is only a few very useful paragraphs long. - You do have to get used to the way unfamiliar fitments clip on and off but do it a couple of times and it soon becomes easy. - The juicer was so easy once I realised the bowl that catches the juice isn't fixed to the part you press the fruit on, my fault! It's all VERY easy and you just rinse it under the tap - The machine manages dough WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS AT ALL and the results are excellent. - I make a lot of cakes so the end product is all important to me. So far the results have been better than I could have ever expected from a mixer costing £99. With a light and fluffy texture they really are the best I've ever made. And yes, I did have to get the mix from the side of the bowl but I just don't care. If you expect miracles you will be very disapponted with anything you buy. I don't and I'm delighted. I would recommend this product all day long. Another excellent product from the Germans! Today I have used the attachments for the first time. I have grated cheddar cheese using the fine grater. Assembling the parts was straight forward but for the time being I am keeping the guide leaflet at hand. A woman of my age has usually tried using these fancy attachments over the years and been disappointed due to fiddly parts and not worth the bother. Well, not this time. Every stage from assembly to grating, to clearing up was completely stress free and so quick and easy I shall be using it in future to grate the whole cheese rather than hand grate each time I need it. I can see myself enjoying cooking again - this has really given me a lift and I look forward to using this wonderful machine over and over again.

Perfect Kitchen Helper for Home Cooks!
Now I've had my Bosch Mum Food Mixer for almost a month and have used it extensively, I feel I can write a helpful review to lay some ghosts to rest. First up, I was very nearly put off buying this wonderful device because of a couple of negative reviews. I'm so glad that I ignored those comments and decided to give the Bosch a try. To call this just a food mixer is almost an insult to all the functions this kitchen gadget can successfully carry out. I'll admit that I was just looking for a reasonable stand mixer when I purchased this but I liked the idea that the Bosch Mum had the other attachments as well. Had I just gone for one of those glossy stand mixers that I was tempted by, I'd really be missing out now. Here's my pros and cons: PROS: 1) More than just a stand mixer - you also get a blender/liquidiser, citrus press and continuous shredder/slicer accessory. 2) The mixer DOES mix small batches properly, the bowl is raised in the middle and the whisk attachments move all around the sides of the bowl. I have whisked the contents of 3 small egg whites into meringue with no problems. 3) It IS POWERFUL ENOUGH for the average home cook. I don't kid myself that I'm some amazing chef. I'm a home cook with a small family, I love to cook and I cook meals daily. This machine hasn't struggled on power with anything. Someone cooking on a professional level will probably require a machine with a motor more powerful than the 550 watts this one provides. 4) The size of the bowl is great if you're normally cooking for 2-6 people. I normally cook for 3 and require smallish quantities for which the bowl is never more than half full. But I've also made food for 6 with no issues at all. 5) Small and light enough to keep out on your worktop at all times. I have the Bosch out permanently and I also have all the accessories out on the worktop except the juicer which is large and isn't something I tend to use. The accessories do take up quite a bit of space but are very useful which is why I keep mine out because they get used a lot. 6) Looks quite smart - not as smart as those glossy mixers but smart enough for the average kitchen and luckily our accessories are black. It all seems to be well made from sturdy plastic (shredders and cutters are metal) apart from the bowl splash cover which I've never yet needed to use. 7) Mixer has been used to make meringue, sponge cakes, rich fruit cakes (use the dough hook when all the fruit needs to be mixed in,) batter, cookie mixes and loads more. Not had any issues. Yes you might need to scrape mix off the whisk if it's sticky - I imagine this would be the case with any mixer. I haven't made any bread dough because I have a bread machine but if it doesn't struggle to make a huge and thick fruit cake, I can't imagine it would struggle with dough either. 8) Blender has been used to make curry paste, soups and milkshakes. As I've never had a blender, I'm loving this feature. You simply push the Bosch Mum arm so it's pointing right down, take the cap off and push and twist the blender on. It makes delicious, frothy milk shakes with ease. Yum. 9) Continuous shredder/slicer attachment - essentially this is like a dumbed down food processor. I love the fact that you can shred or slice things right into the supplied bowl or another bowl or plate. It's easy to use once you know how it all attaches together (tip look up bosch mum videos on youtube) and I use this feature loads. It grates and slices everything I need for pizza toppings, quiches, curries, fruit pies and more - and fast. Pizza toppings and quiches are so easy now because I just slice and grate all the items in a flash. You can grate cheese on the coarse side of the shredder blade (there is a fine and coase side for each blade) but as cheese is sticky, leave it till last as it can clog it up if you're doing loads. You will probably need the coarse side for most items although I made a delicious Apple Tart with ultra fine sliced apple. It doesn't cut chunky chip shapes but I think you can buy a blade which does. 10) I love this device so much I'm doing more home cooking than ever and now having to watch my waist line! CONS: 1) It doesn't look quite as attractive as some of the (more expensive) food mixers. If you're more interested in how a kitchen gadget looks than its actual usefulness, this could be an issue. 2) Although the machine itself is pretty compact, you'll need some storage space for all the accessories because they do take up some room. 3) The instructions are not the best. However, I picked up lots just by watching a ton of youtube videos on Bosch Mum - most of the Mum devices work in a similar fashion so don't just look up this specific machine. OVERALL: Love, love, love this Kitchen Machine/Helper. I'm so thankful that I decided to give it a try. It's been brilliant to use, a joy to use actually and yes I would buy another Bosch Mum again if I had to. You can buy other accessories (different blades, mincer etc) for this and a spare bowl from a UK Bosch website by the way. If you class yourself as a home cook who enjoys cooking for a small to medium sized family, you should love this machine. Hope that helped.

Brilliant Bosch
I looked long and hard for an affordable mixer and read endless reviews before deciding on the Bosch MUM. I would have loved a kitchenaid or Kmix but really couldn't justify the price. I was lucky to buy my Bosch MUM as an Amazon Warehouse deal but even at full price I would feel I had got value for money. I am so pleased I bought the MUM, it does everything I need from a mixer and is far quieter than some other mixers out there. On the looks front it's more practical utility than retro chic but I need it to help with my baking not enter a fashion show. The planetary mixing action really mixes in all the ingredients and if you start on the lowest setting for a couple of seconds there is no need for the splash guard. I have used it to make bread dough, cake mix, whip cream and egg whites and the citrus press is a great little attachment. I have used the slicer which was great but have not tried the liquidiser yet as I use this machine primarily as a food mixer. Yes it flexes, especially when mixing heavy cake mixes or bread dough, don't let that put you off; all stand mixers need to be able to flex - if it didn't flex it would snap! Just make sure that you read the instructions and use the correct setting for the ingredients you are mixing/blending. The clever design means it takes up far less room than many other stand mixers, it's easy to clean and it's motor really packs a punch. It's coped with everything I have asked it to do and I use it an awful lot. As an earlier reviewer said; I love my MUM.

Very useful
I've only used this a couple of times, so haven't explored all the accessories etc. So far it's proved its worth in the field of baking, in particular pastry-making, when the rubbing in of flour and fat is easily taken care of without the drudgery of doing it by hand (especially when you've got mildly arthritic thumb joints, as I have). The mixing of dough for bread-making is also dead easy using the dough hook. It will only take 1.5 lb of flour at a time, but it's so easy that it's no bother to make up two batches and combine them in a large bowl. I still do the actual kneading by hand, but at least I'm not scraping wet dough off my hands for ages afterwards, especially when the phone inevitably rings in the middle of mixing. The quality of manufacture seems to be what you'd expect from Bosch, hence the price, but looking at how sturdy it is I'm glad we paid the extra. My only gripes so far are:- a) Surprisingly, it doesn't come with the usual S-shaped chopping blade for chopping vegetables etc. This is a drawback as fine chopping is one thing I'd hoped to use it for. Of course it's my fault for not checking this in the first place; I'd just assumed that such a common and basic tool would naturally be included. Neither does it seem to be available as an accessory. There may be another way of doing it; I haven't explored this yet. b)The power cable is ridiculously short at 1 metre, meaning that unless you can set it up right next to a conveniently sited plug you have to mess around with an extension lead, as I do. However, I still regard it as being a useful purchase. Additional note, (written after review above):- I've just tried it for the first time to fine-chop vegetables, using the liquidiser attachment, and it works a treat. Very finely and evenly chopped in seconds, using the machine carefully at the lowest speed. I'm therefore totally happy with it now, and only gripe (b) still applies.

Very disappointed
I had this food mixer for 9 months. I have a small baby so I mostly used the mixer to blend steamed vegetables into purées. I used it daily, but I did not make it crush particularly hard things. Or anything like that. The mixer stood securely on the kitchen table and never fell or was bumped. Nevertheless after 9 months the outer shell cracked and the plusticblender jug broke. After just 9 months!!! I called in to claim the insurance and was told it does not include spare parts. After some discussion Bosch did agree to send me the two parts that broke for free. But whereas a jug is easy to replace, the outer shell of the motor is not. Once we put it apart we could not put it back go ether any more. So I had to buy a new blender. I did not expect o have to replace something I spent more than a 100£ on after just 1 month. Very bad quality plastic parts.

Don't buy this!
Don't buy this! Bought the product on July 10, 2020 for AED 489. For a year and a half, the product was used no more than 10 times for mixing 2-3 cups of flour. After that, the head of the working part stopped rotating. Disassembly revealed that in the bevel - worm gear, a plastic bevel gear is used with a metal worm drive, which destroyed the plastic, having much greater rigidity. This is a design flaw that was deliberately implemented to reduce the unit cost and in order to take money for repairs! It's a shame for such a brand!
