APC quality, and plenty of power protection for my home NAS. No more worries about power fluctuation or outages.

It was easy to set up. Just plug in everything you want to remain active if the line goes down. I plugged in the desktop, the monitor, the printer, a USB hub, a scanner. My normal power usage is just the computer and monitor; the other devices are usually off. (Be sure to plug into the side of the outlet strip on the rear panel that is supported during power outages, called the "Battery Backup Outlets") By repeatedly pressing the 'Display' button, I can read my line voltage (123V), line frequency (60.0Hz), Event counter (0), Minutes of available battery operation (85 minutes), Load (39 Watts), Percentage of capability (6%). It's kind of fun to know all those things. Note that I am using this UPS at a small fraction of its capability (6%). The unit was running perfectly but then I did the acid test. I pulled the plug on the UPS and......and.....everything kept working perfectly on battery power. Proof of the Pudding. The desktop will not see violent line surges or power outages. I believe that desktop life is thereby preserved. We get 'power blips' where power goes off for fractions of a second. Such blips can cost a lot of time (and frustration) if work is lost. I should mention that another feature that attracted me was that this is a pure sine wave unit. That is, the power furnished to the computer is a sine wave, and not a square wave or other wave made of different amplitude square waves. (To use the current parlance 'fake sine waves'.) The unit has a USB outlet on the front panel so if power goes out, I can charge my phone from the UPS battery. If I shut down promptly following a power outage (which I would do), there will be plenty of charge left in the battery for keeping cell phones alive for days if not weeks. I have nothing bad to say about this unit. Maybe I'll revisit this review once i get some time on it. But as of right now (after 3 days of ownership), it's everything I wanted and needed.

Open the fully recyclable box (except the film bag), remove the UPS. Big yellow sticker on the side shows you how to connect the battery. Easy to access dual-sealed lead-acid batteries; it should be simple to have a local shop replace them in 5 years when they start running low on capacity. All outlets on the back, over half for battery back up and another several for surge protection only. Includes protection for F-type RF cables (for your cable modem) and a pair of Gig-E ports (also I assume for protection of your inbound to internal internet connection). A third RJ45 port connects to a special RJ-45 to USB cable to connect to your Windows machine, and from there you can set up the software to control the UPS, monitor the power, battery, and set shutdown times when the battery gets low during a power outage. Software is functional if not beautiful, and free download from APC. Small - fits well beside my tiny desk. Easy to shut off the display and beeper from the front panel or software. Nice, as the unit is in my bedroom and I'd rather not have a bright LED screen on all the time. A quality battery backup at a fair price from a reputable company. Will buy again (this is my second one actually - bought a smaller one for the router and cable modem)

was purchased to supply power to PC and house router, we have VOIP phone and wanted to insure phone continued to work properly during power outage. everything worked fine out of box, nice display showing load and status of UPS. Backup function worked great no loss of internet, PC, or Phone on power loss. One afternoon while at computer there was a loud pop and the UPS went down along with the PC, router and phone system.. There was no power failure, other devices in the house continued to work fine. UPS would not come back up, computer and router were still fine when plugged directly into AC power outlet. Called support, described situation. After walking thru some basic troubleshooting they are replacing unit. Would give tech support a 5 star, Hope the new one lasts longer. Update - received replacement in 24hours. Installed and operational now for over 4 months, no further problems. Highly recommend, They stand behind the product.

I bought this to replace a 1500 I had that is nearly 10 years old and the display wasn't working very well. This unit is smaller and lighter but my power requirements for the system have decreased with age also. Appreciate the sine function of this UPS so it's a good value. The battery bay is a lot more intelligent than the previous one so replacement will be a breeze but the batteries are stuck together end to end rather than side by side so duct tape may be required. Display is a nice to look at white LED which isn't super bright which is perfect for dark places, but is visible under near direct sunlight also. No CD's or included software so you'll need to go online to download the management software, but its only required if you plan to do automatic shutdown when on battery. It has two ethernet ports for connecting your ISP modem on the IN and your computer on the OUT. I wouldn't use this in a larger network environment but if you have this stand alone in a remote location I think this is pretty handy. I did not test it but the idea seems reasonable. My system is a 1000W powered beast with high end video cards and powerful CPU's and even some 3.5" drives, though I'll be eliminating these shortly, and I should get about 67 minutes standby on this. No monitors or other devices are plugged into this but it has ample space if you need 6 Battery/Surge and 4 Surge plugs should be enough for this guy. Overall very happy with this and hope to enjoy it for years to come.

I've had it for a while, and to date, it's often saved my work during power outages and maybe even a surge. Regardless of the brand, just get a UPS, it's essential. Don't wait until a hardware failure makes you realize you need one.

The APC 1000VA Back-UPS Pro(BR1000MS) is true sine wave, at less than 2 brown notes, with a 1080 Joules surge protection. This kicks into the battery fast enough that my computer doesn't even stutter, even during a brown out. Front mounted USB-C and USB-A ports are convenient for charging cellular and external battery while protecting those valuable devices. In terms of value, the BR1000MS is comparably priced with the BR1000G and BR700G but with almost 3 times the surge protection and the BR1000MS has true sine wave instead of stepped approximation of sine wave that most other uninterruptible power supplies in this price range have. Sensitive electronic devices really appreciate the true sine wave as it is exactly the same as the juice coming from the wall outlet. APC has been in the game for a long time and their products are the gold standard which most other UPS are compared against. This UPS is not an exception to that and is a great value for these features!

I bought this unit about a month or two ago. This unit stood out in it's features: Pure sine wave conversion, ample outlets, decent runtime, etc. I personally bought it as the power where I live is kinda unreliable, and I wanted to increase the lifespan of my electronics. It arrived a few days sooner than expected to my delight. The UPS had been placed in a larger amazon box which allowed it to tumble around during shipping. Upon unboxing the larger amazon box, the UPS's box was slightly beat up, but nothing super unusual. I plugged in the UPS, and it seemed to be defective as seen in the attached video. The UPS arrived with quality control test results attached, but it had passed those tests. Contacting APC by email for a RMA was futile. However, they have a 1 on 1 live chat, and I was able to be connected to a support agent within a minute. After an hour, I was told I would be given a RMA number and shipping label to ship the defective unit back in exchange for a fresh one. The shipping label arrived by email several days later, which sucked. They didn't give a tracking number for the new unit, but I was able to request it by going to the live chat once again. After a solid month after first ordering from amazon, the new unit arrived. It seems to work well, though the battery on the unit seems worse. The old unit, while defective, reported 250 minutes with nothing plugged in. The new one only gave 125 minutes, but I wasn't about to send it back again. Otherwise, the new unit works well. I also set up the included software, PowerChute. The software lacks some features and hasn't really been updated. It works for my use of monitoring power draw. Do note that plugging a power bar that isn't made by APC in the output of the unit WILL void the Equipment Protection Policy, aka the one that will give you up to $250k if your equipment is damaged by the unit. TL:DR; Customer service is great if you contact them via live chat, quality control on APC's end seems fine, their included software kinda sucks, their email response time is pretty bad, and the unit is overall great.
