Are the frequencies adjustable for the microphones?

Yes you can choose up to 8 different frequencies for each microphone

should the volume controls on reciever adjust when using xlr leads as mine don`t i can only adjust volume on mixer

That’s exactly the same as mine ! The volume was far to loud using the xlr’s, I ended up using the jack to jack lead that was supplied and I can now use the separate gain control on the unit !
