Best product I have tried!
Out of all the products I have tried this is hands down the best! I wish I had gotten a picture on day one because by the next day there was already considerable difference. My gums were so puffy and choppy looking and bleed all the time and had been like that for months. I tried all kids of things like Waterpik, all kids of different brands mouthwash, expensive toothpaste, and not one made a difference until I tried this product. I don’t get why everyone thinks it tastes so bad either? And the numbness is not really even bothersome to me. Just feel like my mouth is clean. Anyway I definitely recommend this mouthwash with anyone having problems with their gums. I’m going to be stocking my cabinet full that is for sure!

It Works!!
I've tried various products for my gum disease. This one works. Other products that help: Livionex Dental Gel and OraMD, a natural mouth rinse with peppermint oil, ACClean (Chlorhexidine aka Peridex). This toxic tasting product will cure your gum disease and reduce your periodontal pocket depth, but it will stain your teeth a greyish green (they can be whitened.)We're all individuals and one treatment that helps might one might not help another. It's good to try several. Perioshield is strong and nasty tasting. It will numbs your tongue for a while after use. It will apparently stain your teeth after prolonged use, but you won't have teeth if they fall out from periodontal disease. My gums stopped bleeding after one day. I will update after I visit a dentist to see how my gums are doing officially.

Helps gingivitis symptoms rapidly!
If you have signs of gingivitis starting (swollen/irritated gums, bleeding, bad breath) using this will stop and prevent those symptoms from happening. No, it doesn't have the greatest taste, but if you've ever taken Peridex mouthwash (prescribed from dentist) then you'll think this is a step up from that. It DOES make your tongue numb for a period of time afterwards, which is odd, but after using everyday it isn't super noticeable. This takes care of any bad breath immediately, and any other pesky gingivitis/gum irritation after that will subside in a few days. Love it! I'll buy another one when we finish this one.

Amazing stuff!
This stuff works WONDERS! Had some sore receding gums. Been using this stuff twice a day for the past 2 weeks and I can notice a significant difference. My gums look and feel a million times better! I only use half of the recommended dose as I wanted it to last longer. Half is plenty. Does numb your mouth for a good half hour so you won’t want to eat or drink anything afterwards.

Aftertaste not hellishly bad, dentist recommended
Dentist recommended after scaling because of heavy tartar buildup. I didn't get the numb tongue or lingering bad aftertaste.I called 800 number on box and was told to use fluoride mouthwash first, wait 30 minutes then use Perioshield. If you use mouthwash, then PerioShield, the action of PerioShield will be reduced.I do like bitter or sour foods so I'm wondering if the other reviewers were sensitive to bitter aftertaste, whereas to me its ok.Update: Still no weird aftertaste, but accidently splashed on my lips and lips were like numb for a couple hours. Go figure.

Need to give it time...
Giving a cautious 4 stars for now. Just used this for the first time and will have to update after a few weeks.I bought this to combat my bleeding gums to try to ward off a trip to the dentist. That, or to ward off the scolding I’d get when I eventually do go to the dentist.Anyway, I was expecting the worst taste ever based on the other reviews. I found that this didn’t have a strong taste at all. If anything, I found that it has an almost watered down mouthwash flavor minus the sweetness. No burning like you get with mouthwash.I swished for the 30 seconds and then some and spit out the wash and immediately rinsed my tongue to try to avoid any numbing sensation. Seemed to work until about a minute or two later the tingling on my tongue started kicking in. Nothing extreme, no novocaine level numbing, just tingling.Totally tolerable process, flavor, and tingling. I did this before bed, so I may have a different opinion when I do this in the morning and then want to eat right after. Will update again in a few!

I PURCHASED THIS BECAUSE I HAD NOTICED A RATHER ROUGH SPOT ON THE BACK OF ONE OF MY BOTTOM FRONT TEETH AND I HAVE A WEIRD PHOBIA ABOUT MY TEETH FALLING OUT...IT IS LITERALLY AN OBSESSION! SO I PURCHASED THIS TO SEE IF THE REVIEWS WERE TRUE AND THEY ARE! TURNS OUT THE ROUGH SPOT WAS JUST SOME PLAQUE BUILD UP BETWEEN MY TEETH! IN 1 1/2 WEEKS THIS PRODUCT COMPLETELY CLEARED IT ALL OUT! THE BACKS WHERE IT WAS ROUGH ARE NOW SILKY SMOOTH! AND MY MOUTH TASTES SO MUCH BETTER IN THE MORNINGS! YES IT DOES MAKE YOUR MOUTH GO NUMB FOR LIKE 30 MINS TO AN HOUR AFTER USE BUT IT IS TOTALLY WORTH IT! AND NO IT DOESE NOT TATSE BAD AT ALL! ITS ONLY A 30 SECOND GURGLE ANYWAY! WHY NOT IF IT SAVES YOUR TEETH????? THIS IS NOW MY DAILY MOUTHWASH AND I WILL BE STICKING WITH IT! I PLAN TO KEEP MY TEETH AS LONG AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE!

That taste....
I don't know that I can tell a difference yet in the plaque level (using for two months). But I can definitely tell you about the taste! Boy, that is something else. Whoooo! I guess it's somewhere along the lines of...rubbing alcohol meets turpentine meets pine sol and maybe they threw in a mint leaf. It's rough. And the fact that you can't rinse your mouth out after cause then what's the point... I can tell you the first swish lasted only about 2 seconds, haha. I decided to push forward, and I've gotten more used to it over the last couple of months, but it's still not quite tolerable. My tips: (1) Drink a bunch of water before you swish with this. Trust me. You will not want to swallow anything at all for probably an hour after this mess. Not even your own saliva. (2) Try hard to keep this toward the front of your mouth. The further back on your tongue this gets, the worse it tastes and the longer it lingers. (3) Hold your nose! haha
