Smells amazing
This is an exfoliating body wash. The scent is fantastic. It smells great and it does stay on your body for a while. It's not overly strong though, but just a nice vanilla scent. This is more of a scrub than a typical body wash. I did not find it lathers much. It has the micro beads to help exfoliate dead skin cells. It has actually helped with some blemishes I have on my thighs. Those spots are becoming less visible after using this, so it actually does help with improving the skin texture. I enjoy using this, but the scrub isn't really the easiest to rub in since it does not lather well (at least not with a washcloth). The smell is really the main thing that impressed me. The price is also insane for just being a body scrub. To be honest, for the price point I would expect a very luxurious body scrub and aside from the nice smell, I'm not sure I would call this a luxury experience. Overall I do still like the product but would probably not pay retail price for this. If they had a regular body wash that was not a scrub and lathered well I may be more inclined to make a purchase.

I'm using it as a hand scrub
This review is for Laura Mercier Exfoliating Body Wash, which, as a Vine reviewer, I received without paying the $52 retail price. This is the same price as noted on the Laura Mercier website, and I just don’t pay that much for soap and cosmetics, so I was happy to try it out. I chose the almond and coconut and was surprised that it came out of the tube brown instead of clear or white, but considering that it seems to have ground up almond or coconut shells in it, I guess that’s to be expected. Also, I would call it a “scrub” instead of body wash. It’s just about the same consistency as toothpaste. I think of body wash as a liquid soap, but this was not a liquid and did not lather up like soap. It does have a nice, light clean fragrance. I am enjoying using it as a hand scrub instead of body wash. After I wash my hands they are so soft and the dry skin around my nails is buffed off and the area seems very hydrated. If you are a Laura Mercier customer, the price point won’t surprise you and you will be pleased with this as a scrub. It would also make an elegant gift for a discriminating friend. It’s not really for me, but I’m giving it 5 stars because it’s exactly as advertised and I’m really enjoying using it.

Not Impressed
As someone who is prone to dry skin, especially during the upcoming colder months, I am no stranger to a good exfoliating body wash. I have been alternating three department store brands in my current rotation, but I'm always open to trying new products.I've heard of the Laura Mercier brand, but I always thought the product line was a bit too luxe for my lifestyle (and budget). Nevertheless I was excited to try the Laura Mercier Exfoliating Body Wash in "Ambre Vanilla."Upon arrival I was disappointed that the white packaging was covered in dirt smudges. This is a big turn off if I were considering giving this as a gift. So quality control needs to do better in that area. When I opened the box I noticed the product was sealed, which is something I look for. After peeling off the seal my nose was immediately hit with a very strong vanilla scent. As someone who doesn't like strong, perfume scents this was a bit concerning, but I still decided to give it a try.The directions on the box state to "pour onto washcloth and gently lather onto skin before rinsing." I followed said directions, yet the body wash did not lather. The product itself contains raspberry seeds, which did not dissolve and remained all over my shower floor. Thankfully the scent is stronger in the bottle than on the skin, and it didn't linger. As far as a body wash goes, I was disappointed that it didn't lather the way I expected It to. I felt as though I had to continue to add additional product to maintain any type of foaming cleanse. I also don't think it felt any different than a drug store brand. I simply wasn't impressed, which is disappointing for such a luxury brand. I don't think this product really delivered in the way I thought it should, especially when I compare it to other department store brands. For the price point I expected a lot more from this product, therefore I do not believe it to be a good value.

Contains neither almonds nor coconut
So to start, I had the same experience another reviewer had wherein the box I received had splotches of dirt all over it. If I had purchased this to give as a gift, I wouldn’t want to give it as it looks like something you might find on the discounted shelf. Not what you would expect from a high-end cosmetics brand. The body wash itself smells great—like a day on the beach thanks to the coconut scent. It should be noted that this is an exfoliating body wash, so it’s grittier than a normal body wash. The thing that I find strange is that it’s listed as “almond coconut” scent, but it contains neither almonds nor coconut. Instead, it’s scented with synthetic fragrance which I guess is to be expected in this category but why not throw some coconut oil in? Another discrepancy is that it says that the exfoliation is powered by sugar and raspberry seeds however when I looked at the ingredients, raspberry seeds weren’t listed but strawberry seeds were. Odd.As far as a scrub goes, $52 for 7.5 oz at the time of this review seems pricey to me. It’s bound to go somewhat fast because you don’t get much of a lather so you use more than you might otherwise. But if cost isn’t an issue and you don’t mind synthetic fragrance, you might enjoy this exfoliating body wash.Made in the USA.
