I liked the mess kit all the way because it is cheap, great for German reenactors and can good very good. But there is one thing I don't like about it is that they spray painted the pan part of the mess kit but its perfectly fine though. I highly recommend buying this instead buying a 40$ German mess kit.

Use it daily for soups and such.

Lately I’ve been adapting some techniques from historic camping for use in the modern era (for instance, bedrolls and haversacks combined with MOLLE utility belts, so I can keep most of my gear on my hips but still have cooking and food handy in the haversack and clothes wrapped in a blanket). I wanted a mess kit that I felt would fit better in my haversack than any of my existing mess kits, and I wanted to be able to boil food in it, as well as fry food (similar to the mess kits I used back in my Scouting days). So I saw this one, and I decided to give it a try.I already have camping utensils I like a lot, so I haven’t even bothered with the utensils it came with (though they seem pretty similar to any sort of lightweight folding utensils common in different mess kits). This mess kit has a lot of storage space! Currently, I’ve got the cup/secondary tray still in it, which takes away some of the available space, but I still have a collapsible cup, my preferred camping utensils, a gas can stove (though not the gas canister), and a folding stand for gas canisters. Without the inner cup (and folding cup), I can fit in collapsible measuring cups and an adjustable measuring spoon, so it can become a full camping kitchen!So why am I rating it 4 stars? It doesn’t stay together on its own, and the lid can fall off. Simple as that. The German mess kits this is based on does, so it seems like the tolerances are a bit sloppy. I borrowed a trick from the German mess kits that inspired this one (which include a leather strap to help secure it further). I addressed the issue by making my own from leather working gear I had handy (to its credit, the mess kit borrows the bits that the German mess kits pass the leather straps through), but I wouldn’t expect people to take up leather working to address tolerance issues on a bit of camping gear.

Functionally I'm sure it works, but to be honest there are better configured and lighter options out there. What it is great for is my airsoft milsim cosplay.

Good kit. Although the handle that latches everything closed is very lose. Utensils are cheesy af too lol.
