Much safer and work without a hitch
Works great! Much safer than the old school spring compressors (2 separate clamps). Paid for itself after the first job. I used it on the front and rear struts of a 2000 Toyota Celica GT-S using the smallest spring holders

Well made and easy to use
This tool is very substantial and is easy to use to compress springs. A great value for the money.

Perfect for narrow springs
Works great on Honda, Toyota truck “shock modules” with tightly wound springs. Ditch the plastic protectors. Goop it up inside and out with grease, use the safety screws. You might have to insert the clamps into the spring, then attach the tool, same for disassembly. Make sure it’s all properly seated. Very secure and effortless once set up. Always think of the ends like you would a loaded gun, pointed in a safe direction.

Works Well For Some Struts, But Not All.
Easy to use, and works well if you have a stut with a good number of coil spirals going round and round, like the rear struts on my 2004 Corolla. The problem is with struts like the front struts on the same Corolla. Those struts have the spring spiraling upwards only about 4 complete turns, so the yoke can only fit onto the two spring sections in the middle. This compressor will NOT work for that kind of spring. The yokes of different sizes fit perfectly onto the spring, but it needs to have a spring spiral section in between the two they are yoked to in order to work. When compressed to the maximum, it STILL isn't enough to disassemble the strut. I had to use the typical two-jackscrew compressors to get this spring compressed sufficiently. Also, this compressor must not be used with power or impact tools. It is not the kind of high-tensile strength metal to withstand that. Only use hand tools (22 mm or 7/8" socket/wrench). Additionally, you must lubricate the threaded rod each and every time you use it, even on each direction (compressing and then again for decompressing). I suggest spraying a penetrant lubricant like WD-40, then follow that with brush-on grease or spray-on lithium grease (easier than brushing). This is absolutely necessary. Ease of use and value are 5 stars. Sturdiness is 3 stars because impact tools can't be used. Versatility to be used with different kinds of springs is only 2-3 stars. Overall it's 4 stars because it does work well when it works. It also feels quite safe, unlike other compressors which are scary to use. I have included photo #1 of my rear strut, which this tool easily compressed, and photo #2 of my front strut which this tool can not sufficiently compress. See the difference in the springs to know if this tool will work for your application.

Amazing when it fits
Worked wonderfully for the first set of struts. So much better than other diy tools I have used. But the second set had a spring wound the other direction. The clamps forks are angled to fit the spring slope. But this only works in one direction. Hard to explain, but the forks should either be flat or have a pivot like the wall mount compressors.

Safe and Secure
This Spring Compressor set makes the job of compressing suspension springs super easy. It safely secure the coil springs with different size coil adaptors. The robust compressor bolt is heavy duty, not likely to strip. 22mm impact socket and 1/2” impact gun quickly make the job done safely. Pay for itself after just one job instead of buying fully assembled struts or shocks.
